whats this?
I liked de-loused and parts of frances the mute, but I was blown away by sparta's first album. the only at the drive-in song I heard was one-armed-scissor....how was sparta's second album?
got a link? and what about at the drive in....since sparta are more mellow, how were they together?
Sorry no links for you Defy. Here is some info and my opinions though.
Before De-Loused they had a EP called Tremulant. It's only three songs long but is just under 20 minutes long. It is a little more rough around the edges because they had only been together I think a few months when it was put out. It is a really good album IMO though and the song "Cut the City" is an amazing song IMO.
I think Sparta is pretty good. I persoanlly like The Mars Volta a lot better though. If you liked Wiretap Scars def. check out their 2nd one Porcelain it is abit better IMO.
Okay now for At the Drive-In...the band that started it all for members of both groups. At the Drive-In is one of my favorite bands ever. Neither The Mars Volta not Sparta really are anything like ATDI. I guess if one was closer it would be Sparta. I persoanlly really think all their albums are great. But if I was going to give two to get a feel for them try In/Casino/Out (my favorite) and Relationship of Command (One-Armed Scissor is on this album.) The EP they put out inbetween In/Casino and Relationship..called Vaya is really really good too. The song 198d from Vaya is one of my favorite ATDI songs hands down.
All I can say when checking out ATDI is forget about both The Mars Volta and Sparta...you can hear bits and pieces of both bands in ATDI but ATDI was something totally different. As much as I love The Mars Volta and really like Sparta...I would really love to see ATDI get back together or at least do a reunion tour.
