I was thinking the same thing, too. Even if that is the case (and I hope it is), then it's not as if the charges are "trumped up". It is what it is. You and I know it's a lot different than if he waited on the corner for the weakest person with the nicest car and then jacked em, but our interpretation means nothing in a court of law.

Getting caught was his problem.

Unfortunately, a good lawyer is very expensive. Our law system does not really give everyone the fair trial it says it does.
