CHICAGO -- A man who contends he got a 9-foot tapeworm after eating undercooked fish has sued a Chicago restaurant.

In the lawsuit filed Monday, Anthony Franz said he ordered salmon salad for lunch from Shaw's Crab House in 2006 and fell violently ill. He later passed the giant parasite, which a pathologist determined came from undercooked fish, such as salmon.

Franz's lawsuit seeks $100,000 from Shaw's and its parent company, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, contending the restaurant's staff was negligent in serving him improperly cooked fish.

But Carrol Symank, vice president of food safety for Lettuce Entertain You, said the tapeworm didn't come from Shaw's.

"We have done a thorough investigation and we're confident the restaurant is not the source," he said.

According to the Web site MayoClinic.com, tapeworms can measure up to 50 feet long

yeah, this is officially the most disgusting news story I've seen in a few weeks... prolly since the story about the dude who kept his family in their trailer for years with garbage and feces piling up, and when the cop went in she had to immediately leave and vomit...

Many fancy resturaunts "undercook" salmon...dude shoud have asked for it to be "well done".

I went to fancy seafood place out here in Seattle a few years back, ordered the salmon, and shit cam back medium rare. I asked the waittress over and was like "are you out of your mind? Do you want me to get sick and sue?" She says "thats the way you cook our salmon by default." I looked at her like she had 7 eyes and told her to take that shit back and cook the FUCK out of it. I aint gettin sick,...fuck all that nonsense.

i hate nothing more than when i take a girl out to a nice steak dinner and she orders a fillet "well done"....good beef is meant to be eaten on the rare side. as far as fish i eat raw salmon and ahi all the time w/o any problems, but i prefer my salmon cooked all the way through if i'm eating it hot.

now chicken and pork on the other hand....i don't want anything less than medium well

I like steaks rare too.. but I think it has more to do with texture.. to be honest, I think it would be more flavorful if it was medium.

unless it has something to do with seasoning, i've found that most flavor in a steak comes from the fat/marble
