LUFKIN — Police have revealed the identity of the owner and driver of a million-dollar French sports car that he accidentally veered into a salt marsh.

The Lufkin Daily News reports police records in La Marque identified 34-year-old Andy House of Lufkin as the driver of the 2006 Bugatti Veyron EB. Police said the car veered off an Interstate 45 frontage road and into the marsh Wednesday afternoon, becoming half-submerged in the brine. House wasn't injured.

The newspaper reports House owns a company that restores damaged luxury cars for resale. A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million.

A call and e-mail to House from the Associated Press weren't returned on Friday. However, tow truck operator Gilbert Harrison told the Houston Chronicle that, after the accident, House was “getting so many calls that he finally stopped answering his phone.” Among the callers were California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and several other celebrities

That does suck but its pretty small shit compared to this asshole in the US Military who crashed a B-2 stealth bomber in Guam. They only have 22 of 'em, and they cost 1 Billion Dollars each.

I've had some bad days at work, but never wrecked a BILLION dollar piece of equipment.

But don't worry, the pilot ejected and he's ok. They should shoot him on sight his life wasnt worth the cost of that plane!

weird i was just wondering that the other day

like what if some dude crashes a blackhawk helicopter on accident or a fighter jet, they cant just make you pay for that shit

i was thinking they just lock you up in military prison instantly if you crash a multimillion dollar aircraft

What makes you think that it was the pilots fault. They even said that it was being investigated.
same thing that makes everyone thinks it was this rich texan assholes fault for crashing his car? if you're drivin the thing and it ends up in the ditch its probably your fault i figure. They must give these pilots defensive driving classes or suffa.

If you are in charge of driving a billion dollar aircraft you should go down with the ship, old school captain style.

I don't care if they said the cause was instrument failure... that's a sorry ass excuse.

I guess the jokes on us for the military having 22 1.2 billion dollar airplanes that dont work right if its humid out. shit. thanks Boeing.

i feel you on that but i think there would be more distractions driving a vehicle on earth then thousands of feet in the air.

Bugatti Bird-gate Followup: Driver identity revealed [*UPDATE: Now with actual crash video!]

Bugatti Veyron of Andy House from Lufkin, Texas - Click above to view video

As we've already reported (stop tipping us on this!), yesterday a Texas man lost control of his Bugatti Veyron and ended up driving into the two-foot shallows of a nearby salt marsh. The driver claimed a kamikaze pelican that flew too low was to blame for the Veyron's bath. The Lufkin Daily News has now identified that driver as Andy House, the owner of Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin.

Perhaps too coincidentally, the company restores wrecked exotics for resale, which makes this whole situation seem like something akin to a mortician offing his own family members to drum up business. Unthinkable, for sure, and we hope it's not the case here as we'd hate to discover later that this Veyron was sacrificed as a publicity stunt.

Apparently a lot of people have been trying to reach Mr. House to discover exactly what happened. We're not sure what the connection is, but the group of interested callers is said to even include California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. We don't think the car has been terminated, but it might be a while before it's back.

*UPDATE: Now with incredible one-in-a-million video footage of the actual crash after the jump – and no, we don't see a pelican, either. However, we do hear explicit language, so this one is NSFW.

How do you "accidentially" veer into anything, let alone a salt marsh?

So, he fucked up a $1 million car all so he could restore it? Whatever works:ermm:
