ANYONE REMEMBER THE QUARTERBACK CLUB SERIES ON PS1 AND N64 BACK IN THE LATE 90-2000'S THEY HAD THAT FIRST PERSON VEIW AND IT SUCKED HORRIBLY. MAYBE SEGA DID SUMTHING TO IMPROVE ON THAT IDEA.
Yeah I remember that. Sega actually made this fun though. It takes a while to get used to it. You actually get arrows pointing to the closest threat to you so you can get away even if you don't see it. You can hear it.

ok so in real life if your running full speed, can you cut and turn 90 degrees on a dime? thats impossible...your momentum is going one way, and your trying to cut another, it jus dont work like that...in madden you actually have to slow down to make the cut...2k you can turn on a dime which is unrealistic...and the real game of football does not move as fast paced as 2k series...there are too many big motherfuckers out there for it to move that fast, 2k series speed is comparable to that of blitz, madden is way more accurate when it comes to game speed...

and there is no bias in my opinion because i used to stand by 2k1 on dreamcast compared to madden 01 on ps2, but since madden 2002, sega sports/visual concepts aint on the same level as ea in football...
Hold up. I have all the 2k games and I can't move like you say it does. The game moves just like the real game of football moves. I repeat, Madden is way too slow compared to the real deal. Not to mention the controls make you feel like your player is on ice skates.
Every move that you do on 2K4, you can do in a real game.
I don't know about you, but I actually played football in highschool.

You know the irony of this all? Visual Concepts used to make EA's Madden games in the past.
I was a big Madden fan, that is until 2K dropped on the DC.
Now I can't go back playin a lesser quality product, it's like playing PS2 after playing Xbox....

Online play will be undergoing numerous improvements also. EA would not comment on Xbox Live support, but the PlayStation 2 version of Madden 2004 will have Xbox Live-style features such as buddy lists, chat, and voice chat using a USB headset. The developers have apparently gone to great lengths to better balance the game and mitigate the possibility of online cheating, and they will also offer more extensive online stats tracking for those who like to have bragging rights. The series is undergoing visual enhancements as well. Players look noticeably more lifelike and now can be seen with graphical details like tattoos, different hairstyles, half-sleeve shirts, different helmet styles, and more. All-new blocking animations have been added to the game, as well as new catches, tackles, gang tackles, stiff-arms, swats, and pushes out of bounds. You'll even see receivers tracking the ball in flight.

Aside from the standard roster and minor gameplay upgrades, Madden 2004 also has a number of much more significant changes that EA Sports believes will revolutionize the series, including an extremely in-depth owner mode and a new playmaker control system that will allow you to make single-player route and coverage adjustments on the fly. EA also clued us in on what sort of online upgrades we can expect from the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

To start, Madden 2004's franchise mode aims to be the biggest and deepest ever created. In addition to all of last year's franchise features, Madden's now-famous minicamp mode has been fully integrated into the franchise mode. In it, you'll be able to train certain players on your team during the preseason training camp, using the minicamp minigames. If you manage to accomplish all of the necessary goals, you'll be awarded an upgradable stat point for that player. You can either just use that stat point to improve your player or risk it by upping the difficulty level and playing through the mode again, this time with the promised reward of double the stat points.

Also new to this year's Madden franchise mode is the owner mode. Owner mode puts you in charge of all the financial responsibilities for a team, including stadium management and managing your team's coaching staff, the concessions, the ticket prices, and the like. If you succeed in the owner mode, you'll be able to hire a better staff, build a new stadium, or even move the team to wherever you please. Likewise, if the team does poorly, revenues will begin to plummet, and your options will become significantly more limited.

When it comes to gameplay, Madden 2004 doesn't stray from the classic Madden style of play and doesn't seem to offer a ton of new features. However, there is one major change to the scope of the gameplay, and it's a pretty significant one. The game's new playmaker control system gives you much more control over your team during the game by implementing the right analog stick as a method of adjusting routes and schemes for specific players. So, when on offense, you can choose one receiver and move him where necessary, rather than having to call an audible and switch up the entire play, and on defense, safeties and linebackers can be moved as slightly or drastically as necessary to make sure everyone is properly covered.

Graphically, Madden 2004 doesn't seem like it will make lots of changes to the look of the series, but you will notice a great number of new animations, especially when it comes to blocking. EA Sports has addressed the issue of players simply being sucked toward blockers by adding lots of shoving, pulling, and similarly free-flowing animations to the game's blocking system. These will of course be coupled with the always growing list of catching, tackling, and running animations that have been added to this year's game.

Got mines today early and i'm lovin the shit. The graphics pretty much the same except new helmet styles and tatoo's but I think the owner mode is a tight idea. I like having to control every aspect of the team. The new playbooks are cool. Except it seems like the Broncos don't have much to defend the run or blitz but overall i'm lovin it. I thought 2003 was tight but this is just that much more improved. . .
