I wanted to see if Madden 08 had the same stuttering, sputtering menus and post play animation as NCAA 08. (it does... just not as bad)

Check out 4:24... What the hell is the game doing?

Watch around the 2:00 mark to see some wierdness. It looked like the player broke the plane on my crappy work monitor.

lol, shit looks super tight to me. and there is a lil stutter while it loads hte play on the screen. but it also doesnt help that the person playing the game probably kept on tappin the a button to make it skip the cutscene. and at the 2 minute mark the dudes knee was down before the ball crossed the goal line thus leaving the ball on the half yard line.

this game like always will sell millions of copies, especially since the game seems leaps and bounds above last years version.

seemed alright. I can't believe they still have that horrible announcing though. That shit is annoying, I don't know why they don't have Al Michaels like on 07 on the PS2.

I also didn't like how the Pit running back would go backwards a few yards after getting the handoff, then all of a sudden would have a huge opening and gain hella yards. That seems like a lil cheat method or possibly means the defensive AI is just stupid.

Regardless, I'm definitely going to pick it up. Certainly not perfect, but probably the best football game out.

Says something about a game when the negatives are an ever so slight lag during menu's and after play animes..... When you play 08 will you admit that it's better than APF?

i just paid in full my pre-order for this game. and that comment about how willie parker ran back and around the db's. he is known as fast willie parker for a reason lol. theres always lil tricks playin against the computer, sine well they are a computer. run that lil stint against me and your be negative 5 yards.

btw the receipt said i was the 525 person to reserve the game at my ebgames. and its a small ebgames too. i wonder if that is for all the madden games or just for the 360. i dont know.

Not saying anything about the gameplay until I actually play it, but people have been bitching about that horrible radio announcer bullshit since they put it in 06.

APF might have a lot of recycled commentary from 2K5, but it is still light years ahead of tin can radio guy.


If Madden plays better than APF, I will let you know.

Madden NFL 08 Impressions

Last night me and my two buddies ordered pizza and wings and watched some Broncos vs. 49ers and played some APF 2K8, then we went to stand in line around 10:30.

The line wasn't as long as I thought it would be last night. Around 11:30pm it was all the way down the street. The crowd wasn't as rowdy as before and everything went real smooth. They gave out tons of sodas and waters, as well as chips and pretzels. Some chics from Red Bull pulled up and gave out Red Bulls. I think that was some clever shit, they knew people were going to be playing Madden into the wee hours of the morning.

I got home and played a 5 min quarter and I can say the game play is much better than last year. They don't bull shit with all that QB coming to the line every play. If you played APF this year, Madden is fast as hell when you start playing. Passing and running is light years better. Defense is nice and I'm still learning the defensive play maker assignment single player buttons, but that is a much needed feature that was missing. The weapons icons look pretty cool and don't distract you as much as I thought it would.

I played my buddy online in a 4 min, all pro non-ranked game. (Raiders (me) vs. Dallas). I learned the game very quick and won 14-0. The game play is very nice and they also challenged a fumble in the last 2 minutes of the game. We tried to challenge a play early in the game, but the option was grayed out, not sure what that was about. All in all I like the game so far. I can't judge it off, 1 quarter played solo an a 4 min game online, but online was pretty smooth for it being the 1st game.

The gang tackling is kinda suspect, I think they did some good things with it, but it's light years away from APF's gang tackling. Presentation is nice, but it's still lacking somethings, no players at coin toss, no field goal net (wtf), no refs on the field, but these are the only flaws I saw so far, everything else looked really good.

I think if you love Madden, you will be satisfied with this years version on the 360. Everyone in line was getting it for 360, a few for PS3 and not too many for PS2 or Xbox, not sure about the Wii. While I personally enjoy APF's gameplay more, Madden is much better than it has been the last few years. Now all they need to do is get rid of the fucking radio announcer.



My Ratings:

APF: 8.5
Madden: 8.5 for now, might change after I try the other modes out.

The radio announcers is probably the dumbest idea EA has ever come up with.

It just seems like a way for them to not put time into the annoucning anymore.

Madden may suck, but his suckiness is part of the greatness that Madden used to be.
