you fail to see my point...the best teams at the END of this season..in my opinion are 1. USC 2. LSU 3. Georgia 4. WVU
I see your point...but i countered that point by saying WVU lost to a very weak team the last game of the season...how does that make them one of the best teams at the END of the season? If they were one of the best, they would have BEAT them HANDEDLY...

YOu mean the same WVU that loast to a then 4-7 Pitt team? Had WVU WON that game, guess who would have been playing OSU in the NC game?

Its not about WHO you lost to...its about WHEN you lose in CFB...
IFYM...

you said it yourself right there....

who would you put in front of WVU then? Missouri? they looked good against a 1 dimensional UNRANKED team in the Cotton Bowl and looked HORRIBLE against OU in the BIG 12 Championship game...WVU would beat them head to head.

When it comes to football, there is no better state in the USA than the state of Louisiana, and there is no better major city in the USA than New Orleans.

Louisiana = 40.22 NFL players per 1 million male population
Metropolitan New Orleans = 48.44 NFL players per 1 million male population

^ Translation: a greater percentage of HS football players from Louisiana/New Orleans grow up to play in the NFL than HS football players from any other state/metropolitan area.

Never doubt the Boot and N.O. when it comes to football, that's one thing they know how to do better than anybody else.

xpanther's about to bust out his doctorate thesis on you. you're done, buddy.
LOL no it's OK.

I really like to see LSU do well just so that state gets it's due for being so damn good at football. I just wish their coach was more likable, his disrespect of the Pac-10 last summer was just so obnoxious and uncalled for, b/c he would never say those kinds of things about his home conference the Big Ten even though by really any rational measure, the Pac-10 is better than the Big Ten and has been for a couple of years now.

What does this have to do with LSU winning a NC?

And "the state with the strongest football culture" is merely a perception, not a reality.
Absolutely it is, I understand that.

It's like if there was an agricultural crop, say apples or corn or whatever, and if there was one state where the percentage of the landscape covered in apple orchards or corn fields was larger than that percentage in any other state.

With that information, I would declare whatever that state is to be the state with the strongest apple / corn culture, and I would want the people of that state to be the first to taste the delicious food that they grew themselves.

Louisiana is better at growing football players than any other state in the country, therefore I like to see the state rewarded.

LOL @ comparing football players to crops.

It works though.
Yeah I know it is pretty funny.

But yeah you're right it does work, and the reason why is b/c, just like crops, this stuff doesn't change much from year to year. States have down years and up years for recruiting, but the bigger picture patterns remain relatively constant.

PS You'll also hear the exact word "crop" come up in recruiting conversations, i.e. the 2008 crop in Washington was the best since 2005, etc.
