so now about the hatch.....
john is ignorant and won't let anything get in the way of anyone pushing the button so he can prove that it's bullshit. desmond and john lock themselves inside the computer room so that eko can't get to them. eko and charlie plant TNT at the door of the comp room to try to open it. they practically kill themselves but they're still alive. the comp door however is still perfectly fine.. haha. well as time goes down, desmond realizes that it's a mistake and tries to stop john. but john takes the computer and throws it down.. breaking it. desmond realizes that they're FUCKING doomed!!
desmond knows because he is looking over the records that john and eko printed out from the monitor room in the previous episode. desmond looks for a part that says SYSTEM FAILURE cause when he was in control of the button, he was late in pushing the buttons and all the metals suddenly was moving to that huge manetic panel. he sees that system failure and asks john what date they crashed and it matches.. which means that the magnetic panel pulled the plane to crash on the island.. since it attracts metal. john's like buuuullshit... and by the time it ends, all the metal starts moving towards it.. practically everything. desmond's like fuuck, there's an emergency switch beneath the surface at the foundation. everythings going all crazy. making all screeching noises and the sky's turning all white. all the ppl on the island is covering their ears from that screech and everything that's metal is moving towards that magnetic panel.
then it stops.. because desmond sacrifices himself to turn off that switch with the key.
and the final scene of the finale shows 2 guys in like the north or south pole or somewhere blizzardy and snowing. they're playing chess and blahblah and all of a sudden their monitor computer says something about magnetic distrempancy or something about magnets... the 2 are like OH SHIT.. 1 of the guy calls a telephone.. and it turns out to be desmond's old love. she has that picture of desmond on her nightstand next to her phone and she answers and the guy says something like we found it.
so... i'm guessing that desmond's 'girl' was hella looking for him since in his flashback, when he was getting ready to run the stairs (where he first met jack), she comes to him and he's liek wtf, how'd you find me? and she responds by saying when you have money and motivation, you can find anything. she moved on cause desmond was in jail and he wrote her letters, but the rich father stopped the letters from reaching her so she never knew he contacted her. she was pissed and crying that desmond never wrote to her in jail and blahblah. aaand so i think that desmond's girl paid ppl to try to find him cause she still loves him?? ..which means they might get saaaaaved, but probably not anytime soon! haha
