my eight year old is very big for his age. the next age group was 9,10&11.
he just turned 8 when was pushing 120. because of the training program he lost that weight like nothing. for you coaches, i would look into sparq training. it really helps with speed and footwork.
I dont think its good for kids to lose weight like that......I know everyone has confidence in their kid...But to say yours would light the boy up, um i dont think so............Post footage if its like that.....Im not denying your sons skill....But this kid aint no pushover.....Sure he smacked someone who didnt know what the fuck they were doing......But its clear that he's the best player on his team...Coming from all the way accross the field to make that hit........

I never heard of makin weight for football. Only wrestling, boxing, mma. Shit like that.
Back when i played Pee Wee football they had the scale out before every game.......If someone was overwieght they would go to jr midgets or midgets that same day.....

Jesus Christ, relax. He's only 8.

On the real though, don't get your hopes high as a dad. Chances are your kid won't go Pro. Every dad thinks their kid will go pro one day, but the chances are slim to none.

wow!

let kids be kids? weight training for kids? dont get my hopes high? going pro is slim to none?

what are you guys talking about?

my kids are staying just that for as long as possible.

the sparq training i am talking about is more about the activity and movement than anything else. nothing weight training related.

my hopes are only that my children do their best at whatever it is they choose. good habits start early.

i much rather have my children involved in activities like sparq and sports than sitting in the house playing video games all day. i coach that age group and know that kid weighs no more than 80 pounds, if that. saying my son would light him up is doing too much. i hear you. but he wouldnt knock him like that. my son wants to hit. i have had other coaches tell me to focus on football and blah, blah, blah. going as far as trying to talk me out of letting him play baseball so he can participate in an offseason program. i react just like you guys. if he said he didnt want to play, that would be fine by me. he likes it, and that puts a smile on my face as a parent who loves sports.

it is tough, i hear you, but at the end of the day their happiness is more important than sports. i try to let him play everything so he can decide what he does and doesn't like. keeping him active and focused on positive things is my goal.

My parents forced me to do sports when I was younger, everything from soccer to baseball, basketball.. etc.. I hated them. When I have kids I'll be damn sure not to make them do sports if they don't want too.
