Wouldn't be surprised if this video made it to MTV. Lil' Rob has the potential to outsell ANY black artist. If you don't believe me you should check out my proof first.
1) He is Mexican. A Mexican artist will definitely get the Mexican community interested in WHO Lil' Rob is. As a minority Mexicans outnumber most [keep this is mind].
2) He is making ruca music. I ain't a puta and I ain't a little white leva, but you can bet that if this makes it to the tele that most of the people who buy this will be white people. Mainly white women and white kids trying to sponge and leech of la cultura. White teens buy most rap, I don't see why they wouldn't buy most xicano rap.
3) Radio play. Do you really think you'll ever hear the politically charged songs from DRF on the radio? Or the heavily gang laced verses by Tokztero? Who is easier to sell? A bunch of frijoleros who want to kill white people and the goverment or a sell out who raps to women?
4) The video isnt bad. I really and honestly don't think the visuals are bad. The song isn't my cup of tea but I can bet you most of your bitches will be listening to this type of shit. Women buy into love songs and this muthafucker sounds exactly like what is currently selling in the rap world. Want to make millions? Be a "love gangster."
5) He is dressing like a cholo. A lot of us still dress like cholos. And not all of us are scraps. Mexicans are still predominantly cholo'd out. You can still see the cholo style in the more 'black' influenced parts of the bay. IE Frisco and Oakland. Alot of Mexicanos will see this and non-bangers will definitely be attracted by his "Cholo-ness."
He is a sellout artist. Rap is not a love gengre of music. I think if you want to sell records and go "Baby Beesh" on the radio that's on you, pero it makes you a sellout. Rap is an urban music. It's a gangster music, and it's a music that SHOULD talk about urban life either in the barrio or the hood. With rap you gotta be political, socially concious, or hardcore. "Love Rap" is for muthafuckas that can't sing R&B.
