Nah, your Hispanic if your Puerto Rican. Your "Puerto Rican" if your Puerto Rican, simple as that. You might look black, but YOU only WANT to be "black" because your in the states. Anyways, your probably better off being "black" and calling yourself black because acting black or anything that has to do with being black is what's most socially acceptable. ATM, if your black, your cool, simple as that and the Hiphop culture is a big reason for that because it's mainly dominated by blacks. That's why you call yourself black, you like Hiphop and you like everything that revolves around what blacks do within the hiphop culture. But in reality, your really not, your just a spic like me. Your just using your physical characteristics or color of your skin to consider yourself African-American, which infact your not, your Puerto Rican-American, as I'm a Mexican-American. Stop jocking another race dog, be yourself. I know you might look black, but show your Latin roots as well homie because that's where you come from, more so than you do from Africa. There's no reason you should be saying "nigga" and other $hit like that, that ain't part of your culture or my culture, that's apart of the African American culture, that's non-hispanic. One of my good homies comes from a highly beaner family, but the homie looks white, pale white and white facial structure, if he wanted to he could pretend to act white, be mamon and what not, but he doesn't. How is he not black. He mihgt not be african american but he still black, he's a black puerto rican. Hispanic, latino, all those categories aint a race, thats a cultural political grouping. If he aint black, then Jamaicans, trinis, Africans, belizeans and so on aren't black, since bein black, to you, is being african american.

You have a point. All those may be considered "black" or "negro" because of the color of their skin, but my main point is that American Puerto Ricans like him are trying to use the color of their skin to be socially acceptable among the rest of Black America. When in fact, I personally believe their more Latino than they are African American. Remember, not all Puerto Ricans look completely african black. As compared to your African American black, the majority of all them do look African black, regardless if their mixed with anything, their more pure. Their forgetting their latin roots and replacing them with African American culture.
My point is your still trying to act like the blacks here and accepting their culture as your own, when in fact you really shouldn't. Your using the color of your skin as deception so you could be considered "African-American-black" because it's more socially acceptable here in the states, your not displaying yourself as a Puerto Rican Black. That's why when asked you say your "black," black as in pure American Black like your average SnoopDogg, Dre,LaDainian Tomlinson,Dr. Martin Luther King,etc... when in reality you should really be saying your Puerto Rican.
