How far does the history go back? As far as llke the 1st rapper/group to put out a tape or cd. Also, who was the 1st producer (or team of producers) to make beats?

Places like the Bronx, Compton, Chi-Town, Oakland, Frisco, etc. have their history, but I was always curious to know when cats started puttin' it down for KC.

mafiaqueen aren't you the person that told me about a CCG tape from 91 or 92 called "Streets Of Rage". do you know anyone with an OG of that or the South Side Posse tape?

i think 91..rich the factor come out to the bay and hooked up with jt to make his first tape
91? are you sure? what do you mean his 1st tape? are you talkin about "Gettin A Grip"? correct me if i'm wrong but i thought that was his 1st release, which was 95.

91 was the year JT released his 1st release (tape-only) "Dank Or Dope". i don't think Rich The Factor even knew about him then.

Yep they did, I havent seen it since high school. And I wish I could find that south side posse tape it was called PICO. Partners in a criminal organization. They was the first to bang on wax, way before crips and bloods came out. And for those who dont know, Mon E G was and is the lead rapper of SSP

Before Fat Tone, Rich the Factor, Tech N9ne, and even Vell Bakardy, the first local rap star from the Kansas City Hip-Hop scene was DoggStarr D. DoggStarr D is the original, show up in yo hood and smash on every wannabe rapper. He was the first local rapper to rap in ANY club in Kansas City. He was the first local rapper to be heard on KPRS. I don't believe he ever dropped a full-length album, but he was definately the first artist locally to establish himself as the top rapper in the city.
The first producer from Kansas City to establish himself as the man at the forefront of the KC rap scene was none other than DJ Icy Roc. Icy Roc gave up DJing to provide beats for young aspiring artists like Pure Dope and Tech N9ne. He even used his relationship with the platinum R&B group Lo-Key to help Tech N9ne get his first record deal. DoggStarr D is now the pastor of a growing non-denominational church in Kansas City and Icy Roc is now the top video director, editor, producer in Kansas City. I'm gonna check in with my triple OG to find out who were some of the early Dj's and promoter's in Kansas City. Oh yea, I might as well add that MoCheez magazine was the first and still only magazine to promote the Kansas City rap scene.

Icy Roc deserves to be bigger than he is.... PROPS TO ROC KRAYVN... Without him there would be no Strange Music... I say that because most of those artist were established in the Roc Pit...
