Just came back from E.C. Illa's store "The Tip" on the North side of Chicago and got:

1.MCG'z--"53 Chambers of Danger"(Gary,IN)
2.Thugged Out--"Na What -The EP"(Gary,In)
3.Lil' Flip Presents--"Clover G's"(shouldn't have got it)
4.Pimp C(UGK)--"Sweet James Jones-Chopped & Skrewed-Live from the Harris County Jail"-all new songs
5.CCA presents Midwest Thug Niggaz--"Tha Compilation Album"(Gary,In)
6.50/50 Records Presents--"It's Been One"(Gary,In Comp.)
7.Family Cartel--"Cartel Life"(Gary,In)

DVD's
1.Mobb Deep's "Murda Muzik-the movie"
2.Windy City TV vol.1--Chi-town music videos(had vol.2)
3.Wicked TV #25--some Chi street shit with music videos, interviews, and more.

And last but not least the new "Murder Dog " magazine with Twista on the cover and a special report on Milwaukee,Wisconsin.

Had pretty much everything from old school to new school--commercial to underground--but Chicago rap didn't have nothing new that I don't have.I would say that Gary is definitely creepin on the Chi.But E.C. said that alot of shit is coming out of the Chi this summer starting off with a new movie starring E.C. Illa,Psychodrama,Twista, and everybody else from the Chi coming in June.

I need to get there one of these days. Are their CD's as expensive in the store as they are on the website? Does E.C. Illa work there all the time?

At the store they're anywhere from $10-$16.I guess he got his reasons why the're higher on the web.For one he is basically the only distribution that Chi/Gary got at the moment. And I've been shopping there for 2 years and he be there every morning, faithfully.Shit,he got it going on and he a good dude. I know he love his job, Hip-Hop store owner/rapper/producer

its better jus to find someone that stays in the chi and get cds from them....the tip dont even keep up with all the chi town music thats out.......
I really can't agree with that.He really does keep up with anything to comes out of the Chi.Especially underground & independent. All of the artists know they have to put their cd in "The Tip" or people looking for it won't find it.They'll have to call the artist theirselves on the phone numbers they leave on cd's and magazines. In Chicago I've talked to "Fletcher's One Stop Dist." and went to the infamous "George's Music Room" on Roosevelt and they only carry commercial shit and a couple underground titles. They really ain't got no Gary,KC,or West Coast titles. But E.C. be havin the whole Gary/Chi land shit plus he'll special order other shit.He found me that Top Authority "Rated G",Pastor Troy "We Ready,I Declare War,Reese-n-Bigalow "R&B Playa Music, and Streetlords aka Cheddaboyz "Platinum Masterpiece" to name a few.E.C. be on his shit. And another reason he charge so much is cause Chi/Gary niggas is the slowest region in the industry to put albums out.He keep up with the shit but they rarely drop shit in that area.I see what you're sayin though, you go in the store lookin for new Chi shit and you got everythang already. They slow on the music tip. That's how everybody started paying attention to Gary.

If you live in Chicago you might as well get on 80-94 to Indiana, get off on Grant in Gary, then go East till you hit Broadway. Go up Broadway you'll hit about 4 moms and pops, with all the Chi shit, all the Gary shit.

reason why it costs so much is cause EC doesn't cheap out on the mail service and uses best shipping there is for your CDs. and reason why you feel it doesn't have every chicago related album is because EC picks and chooses shit what is good and bunk to be sold unless it is in demand or just being given free to be sold. so don't think EC isn't up to date with his shit. he won't know about every artists album out there since not many people promote that great in the chi to hard to keep on track with releases. so just cause some of y'all DOWNLOAD albums that aren't being sold at the tip shouldn't think he has a limited selection. he buys these albums from the artists. just think, why fucking buy albums of shit that will just sit on the shelf and collect dust. what kind of business is that...think about it.
