yep, that was another big reason people dislike him. I mean, the whole point of the Contender was to a get a shot at the title, something many other more deserving fighters would kill for, and Mora shit on it.

At least Manfredo had teh balls to fight Calzaghe, same with Gomez against Cotto and Forbes against de la hoya

I like Pavlik more and more. Dude fights a lot, doesn't take a lot of time off between fights, is good about accepting challengers taking shots at his title, etc.

yeah Pavlik really proved himself worthy of being the true middleweight champion. Although this fight with Gary Lockett is a little bit of a joke, but I suppose Lockett is dangerous in that he has a pretty good punch. Not sure how the hell he got to be ranked so high, but whatever. Pavlik deserves an "easy" fight after having so many tough ones in a row.

I think Pavlik & co. should fight these lesser known guys in his hometown, Youngstown, OH, have a home coming fight. Follow the footsteps of the last great champion from Youngstown, Ray Boom Boom Mancini.

as much as I love Pavlik, I gotta go with Showtime. I think it will be a better card.

Quintana/Williams should be competitive and I'm really curious if Quintana can repeat his performance, or if Williams just had a bad night.

Also, I hate Mora and I think Forrest can and will kick his ass.

I'll download the Pavlik card and watch it the following day.

Lockett is made to order for Pavlik. Straight up, always coming forward, waiting to get be blasted into next year. Not sure why Williams is getting an immediate rematch but I think that fight goes exactly the first one. Forrest better win for the sake of my sanity and PDL and Juanma is gonna be the shit.

I'm gonna be tuning into the HBO card and recording the Showtime event. PDL/JML > every fight that day IMO.

Well Pavlik seems to be getting two easy fights in a row considering if Rubio wins his next fight, which there should be no doubt he will, he gets a crack at Pavlik.

Sergio Mora Workout Photos and Quotes

04.06.08 - Photos: Joe Miranda/SHOWTIME- Sergio Mora participated in a recent media workout as he winds down preparations for the biggest fight of his career against Vernon Forrest (40-2, 29 KOs) for his WBC super welterweight title Saturday, June 7, on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (9 p.m. ET/PT delayed on the west coast). Mora (20-0-1, five KOs), of Los Angeles, won “The Contender” television series on Oct. 15, 2005, with an entertaining and hard-fought split decision over Peter Manfredo, Jr. The fight with Forrest is exactly what Mora has been aiming for and should prove to be his toughest challenge to date.

As part of a world championship doubleheader on SHOWTIME, the evening will kick off when Carlos Quintana (25-1, 19 KOs) looks to defend his newly acquired WBO welterweight belt against the boxer he dethroned, the previously unbeaten Paul Williams (33-1, 24 KOs). The Quintana-Williams bout is a rematch of a WBO welterweight title fight that Quintana won in a shocking upset on Feb. 9, 2008..

The fights, which will take place at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., will be promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, and Fight Nite, LLC, in association with Tournament of Contenders, LLC, DiBella Entertainment, Goossen Tutor Promotions and Northeast Promotions.

SERGIO MORA

“After my last two performances, I was really down. I needed the motivation. Forrest has provided me with the motivation I needed. I have learned not to take things for granted.”

“This is maybe my fifth or sixth fight out of 21 that I have been completely motivated.”

“Forrest is an old lion and a cagey veteran. He is a smaller Bernard Hopkins. He has all the tools in the book. He has all the punches.”

“Last year was a lost year for me. Boxing is stressful. Even if you want to fight, sometimes promoters and business matters get in the way. Boxing is mental, physical and spiritual. It takes more than training. It takes handling your personal life.”

“I had some off years. I was going to get to this position (fighting for a world title) even without ‘The Contender.’ Boxing needed some fresh blood. Now, it is my time.

“I just need to prove myself. You have to roll with the punches. I don’t care what people say. I don’t care what critics say.”
