Fuck Kobe. He'll never be a "great" player because he's too busy trying to do the things that Jordan did instead of leavin his own legacy.
First off, lets get one thing straight, he is already great, no doubt about it. Only great players can perform at the level he has been throughout this year. Secondly, quite to the contrary about your statement saying that he is to busy trying be be like Jordan, he has stated many times with the media that he does not like the label of being just like Jordan. The thing is, everyone only dreams of being able to perform like Jordan, even most of the players in the NBA, and because one player can actually do that then your going to knock him? Jordan is the best player to have ever played, you can be certain that every player is trying to play at the same that he did, but don't knock a guy because he can actually acheive that goal in an identical manner, rather praise the man for even coming close to performing at the same level. I want to know how McGrady is NOT trying to be like Jordan, and Kobe is, can you distinguish please? Lastly, as to the comment "You can score all you want but a scoring champion dont win championships!" that maybe true, but he already has 3 rings.

Kobe will leave his own legacy apart from Jordans, you can be assured of that. caffeine was right, its mostly you haters that label him as being identical to Jordan, I guess it's because you are so ashamed to praise the man, that you have to do so by comparing him to the greatest to ever play.

Jordan didn't have anyone? Then tell me why he didn't win a championship untill Pippen came to the team? He had players, and good ones. Its just people without real knowledge that don't know that. Take Shaq off the Lakers and put on the Bulls old players, championship.

Im not going to knock your opinion because atleast you can admit that he will be one of the greatest. The only thing I dont agree with is how close he will come to Jordan. I am willing to admit that there is a GOOD chance Kobe will never be considered better then Jordan, but I think he is already playing pretty close to his level as far as physical ability and statistics. The only thing seperating them is Jordans basketball mentality and on court presence, that which is the hardest part to acheive. Kobe does have it hard, he has a team filled with players with big ego's who don't want to listen to the youngest player on the team. Yes, Jordan in place of Kobe on this team would win championship every year, but we can only wait and see what Kobe will accomplish throughout his career with this team... you can't asume he won't be better, because no one though Jordan would be as good as he was.

As far as physical attributes and statistics, ya Kobe does and will come close to MJ when it is all said and done. That doesnt mean he will be greater than MJ, but he should come close....The only way we will get a true read on how good Kobe is is when Shaq retires and Kobe can call the team his own......I mean there are certian things that you see Kobe do that are Jordan esqe, but at the same time, I see McGrady doing the same things......But there are certian things that neither of them nor anybody to come can ever do what MJ did for the game as far as making the NBA as global as it is today.....

More than likely, it was Stackhouse. But you know Jordan guarded his a few times.
BUT..@nitro, Jordan didnt have anyone, true, until Pippen came, true. But didnt Jordan mold that team into a championship team though? He did that himself. People started sayin that he was a one man show who couldnt elevate the performance of his team, and what did he do? He made his team better. Thats my point. I dont think Kobe can do that. He gotta one of most dominant players ever on his team. I guarantee you, if Kobe went to a team like Miami, he couldnt do nothin. He'll have a right hand man in Eddie Jones and I bet you, he wouldnt make his team mates better or take them to the playoffs.

He helped mold that team as much as a player could, but your forgetting they had one of the best coaches in history in Phil Jackson. He deserves most of the credit, he was the one coaching Jordan you know. Here is a little time line to show you that Jordan wasn't shit by himself and it took him another player and a great coach to start winning.

Jordan Alone:
(84-85) 38-44
(85-86) 30-52
(86-87) 40-42

Pippen Arives (sudden increase in record)
(87-88) 50-32
(88-89) 47-35

Phil Jackson arives (sudden increase in record again)
(89-90) 55-27
(90-91) 61-21 [championship]
(91-92) 67-15 [championship]

Look at what Jackson did to this team, thats not a coincidence. Everybody here thinks he's a subpar coach, and he has always been put on teams with great players, not true, he just made them great. Before he came to the Bulls he was coachong in the CBA where he took his team and won a title as well as winning coach of the year. He then joined the Bulls won them 6 titles and I dont know how many coach of the year awards. He retires. He then joins an already talented Laker's squad who could not win in the playoffs for the life of them. He took them and won a championship in his first year and has won every championship game since. Jordan is the best player to ever live, don't think im trying to take that away from him, but some people just mistake him for god. He did a lot of things as a player, but Jackson is a big reason Jordan was who he was..
