ayo, you don't PICK your language, at all. You can put down 3 that you "Want", but I know people who got languages that weren't on there at all. Korean, Arabic, Chinese is what you'll most likely get, but also depending on what they need at the moment you might get Hebrew, Farsi, Dari or some shit. My recommendation to you is don't do that shit. DLI fucking sucks, it's cool cuz I'm from Seaside so I was at home, but that place is shitty. I'm here at Goodfellow now which is the second (3rd if ur airborne) place you go to and this place is even worse.
If you got ur damn heart set on this bullshit, join the Army mayn. They look after their folks better than the AF, and the AF is just the wannabe Army these days anyway. Sure, the AF don't got as much pt and ftx and war week in AIT as the Army, but the AF is a bitch if u get into ANY kind of trouble.
Fuck it tho, go smoke a blunt and weigh ur options mayn, the military aint koo.
look into other AFSCs too fa sho, you do NOT want to be in training status for 2+ years mayn, it aint worth it. Linguists have hard times finding jobs in the civilian world as intel anyway. If you want that clearance and the retainability in the civilian sector, you need to go for an analyst job.. that's what NSA hires, unless ur Arabic. Then you good anywhere.
That was my goal, but you don't get your VA benefits with anything less than honorable, so an admin discharge and no VA benefits. Also, you don't get ur GI benefits unless you've completed at least 3 years active duty with an honorable or 2 years active 1 year inactive with an honorable.. so that aint gon work.

I been in the Air Force for 10yrs....it's aight. If i were you i would go into Communications. 3C2X1 (that's what i do) or 3C0X1 and i would go in that order. Linguist is aight though, it's just that the school is hella long and most dont make it through. Once you wash out of Tech-School and have over 1yr invested your are damn near forced to cross-train and at that point the options are not that great....you'll end up being a cop! Do the Comm. thing or go for an AFSC that flies, such as Flight Engineer, Load Master or Boom Operator. That's my 2c.
im talkin about lookin after em, the Army will get ya back when you get in trouble for the most part. In the AF they'll throw ya under the bus with no hesitation. When you in AIT, yea it's kinda shitty, but overall id go Army than Air Force.
is Comms an overmanned AFSC? I know a lot of prior-service Comms cats that crosstrained to diff intel jobs cuz of force shaping...
