Jeff Garcia joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1999 after spending five seasons in the Canadian Football League.
Garcia earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl in his first full season as the team's starter in 2000, and he again made the Pro Bowl in 2001 and 2002.
He became the first quarterback in 49er history to complete 300 or more passes in three consecutive seasons. He is also the team's first quarterback to throw for 30-or-more touchdowns in consecutive seasons with 31 in 2000 and 32 in 2001.
In 2002, Garcia orchestrated five fourth quarter comebacks, sharing the team record with Y.A. Tittle.
One of the NFL's most accurate passers, Garcia ranked fourth in NFL history with 89.9 career quarterback rating and fourth all-time with 62.2 completion percentage.
During his career in the CFL, Garcia led the Calgary Stampeders to the 1998 Grey Cup Championship. He finished his CFL career with 16,449 passing yards and 111 touchdowns, with a completion percentage of 61.7 and rushed for 2,370 yards.
Garcia was a three-year starter at San Jose State. He ranks first in school history with 7,274 yards of total offense. He is third all-time in passing yards (6,545), passing completions (504) and passer rating (129.4).
As a senior, he completed 196-of-356 passes for 2,608 yards and 21 touchdowns, and was second on the team in rushing with 559 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
As a junior, Garcia earned UPI All-America honors after throwing for 2,418 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed 94 times for 223 yards and seven touchdowns.
As a redshirt sophomore, he finished third in the country in passing efficiency, completing 61.9 percent of passes for 1,519 yards and 12 touchdowns.
