Source or which news station you saw it on?

NHK, they are saying a small explosion has occurred... 4 workers were injured, and showing pictures of only a "skeleton" of a building standing. They're not for sure if it has to do with the reactor or not... I would guess not.

Relatives are telling me not to go there. I was planning to but I didn't have a date set. My Mom's ticket is already booked for the 31st of March but I hope she cancels it. I am trying to talk her out of going but in the end she will make her own decision. Time will tell...

It's just not a good time to roll the dice.

naw bro it was at the plant, CNN has video of it happening... literally blew the roof off, & radioactivity is seeping out into the atmosphere at a rapid rate. They said unless they can pull off a miracle, a full blown meltdown is on its way. Evacuation zone increased to 20 km from the plant.

Ya it's pretty much a race against time to cool those reactors down. A nuclear melt down is a big deal. Nothing to brush off.

I've heard this as well, which seems like a good thing:

"The reported explosion is a planned pressure release being conducted by Tokyo Electric Engineers. The situation is under control. There are no risks to the public or environment."

I'm sure they have their best people on it, but they can only do so much.
Wish them the best of luck...

Where did you hear that? Fox & CNN aren't reporting anything like that.
It was online, someone posted it on Business Insider.
I'm watching JapanTV as well, which is their local news. It's a subscription based channel but all the providers (Dish, TW, etc.) opened it up for free. The Japanese media is telling its people that things are under control. It may just be so people don't freak out more than they already are.

So a friend of mine from high school is pretty religious as is the rest of her family and I'm friends with like her, her two sisters, and two cousins on facebook and they post this as their status almost all one right after the other.

·´¯`·.´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸PRAYER WAVE¸.·´¯`·.´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Going out to all those affected in Japan, the Pacific and everywhere else affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

Seriously a prayer WAVE for a place that got hit by a tsunami? I wanted to be like "your family trolling breh?" lol
