According to SI.com's Don Banks, there are "rumors" that JaMarcus Russell has ballooned to close to 300 pounds since last season ended.

Russell, who coach Lane Kiffin has named the Raiders' starter, had weight issues in college. InsideBayArea.com's Jerry McDonald writes in his blog that no players have actually seen Russell this offseason, so the rumors are hard to confirm. Russell has shown the ability to drop weight quickly. Mar. 9 - 8:01 pm et

One of my concerns I told you guys was his heart just isn't into training and getting better! I was told by raiders fans it was false or it would change once he got to nfl..welll hmmmm it is just a rumor, but hmmm wonder why no teammates have seen him since season? most qb's and wr's get together and train...guess it doesn't work that way in oakland?????

The way I see him and his attitude.I think this story could be true.Off the subject i kinda feel he's not happy being a Raider.Thats what I see. He'd rather wear weird colorful clothes than wearing a Raiders Hat or Something that shows he represents the Raiders at least during the season.

lol thats all bad!

Sucks 4 u, the blazers and raiderS?

lol naw imf uckinw itu

LOL I was tellin my homie the other day (49er fan) that this is a fucked up year for me. Both my teams had the first pick in the draft and neither one of em played (russell's 5 minutes of action dont count)! Then he snuck a little joke in about the Raiders and then I said Alex Smith and we wasnt cool until the next day.

well you know.....I don't care either way. But this reiterates what I was saying before y'all drafted him. He doesn't have the work ethic...he never has and never will.

I mean the one part of the story that jumps out at me is not that he gained "possibly" weight, but the fact that NO teammates or coaches have seen him....really none????? other startings qb's have taken the wr's and te's and went to a traing facility and have been working since a few weeks after off season began for them. So not only have the players been working out together they gain trust and experience.....but not the raiders starting qb...what the hell would he want to go and practice and get experience for? why even bother keeping in touch with headquarters or teammates???

makes no sense to me.

I agree with what your sayin...I've never been high on Russell either just based off my instincts and now Im realizing why. I still hope he ends up proving me wrong.

Yeah everyone knows my stance on him before draft...but I was called a hater like always......lol

maybe he just needs to grow up and someone will teach him the way....my concern is on that team who would that be? Coulda been Sapp...but he's gone. Maybe an ex-raider will try to do it???
