Its not about blackness. Its about the group he is trying to target, or trying to say i am a part of. Obama tries to identify with a certain group because of certain attributes he has, while hiding the attributes that show how different he is to them. Basically, what i am saying, is anyone who votes for him because of his race is an idiot.

This type of ridiculous mentality is both comical and common. I don't think any Black person will ever be 'Black enough' for Black America, and even if they are, the Blackness can be pulled out from under their feet on a moments notice. It's a common fear among Black celebrities and powerful people, (that their 'Blackness' will be rescinded at a moment's notice) which is why they meet any and all of these sorts of Blackness challenges as quickly as possible.

In addition, anyone who "is" Black enough (came from poverty, still poor, still sounds like they live in the hood, challenges the 'system' at every turn, is a player, mack, pimp, etc., has a "im gonna take mine" attitude) will be rejected offhand by non-Black America.

Lewis Black is always funny.

“If you listen to a song and get an image in your head, and then you go home and watch MTV and the image they're showing is the same as the one in your head, kill yourself. You're better off coming back as a lobster.”

I AM said:
That's really pathetic.
no i dont think so, i said it only cements my vote, my vote isn't based completely on the fact that hes part Irish- its just helps. Every president but one (Kennedy) has been Anglo-Saxon and in my opinion the majority of umm have been garbage so its about time we get another race in the White House whether that be a Celt or Black or in obama's case both

no, there have been other Irish presidents, Kennedy however was the only Irish Catholic president, not to mention the youngest in the history of the United States, if Obama gets elected he will be pretty close in age to Kennedy. Also I hate to break the news, Bush Jr and Sr are both part Irish.

If ur refering to their Ancestor by the name of Sheldon then ur wrong. From houseofnames.com The name Sheldon is part of the ancient legacy of the Anglo Saxon tribes of Britain. People think thats a Irish name but its not. If thats not the name ur thinkin of i would like to know which name ur using to base that on. thanks

he's irish.. you dumbshits.. i'm high and i figured that out 3 pages back.. on a different note.. looks like whitey is tryin' to kill him already..

The Secret Service said Thursday that Democratic Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) was being placed under its protection, the earliest ever for a presidential candidate.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff authorized Obama's protection after consultations with the bipartisan congressional advisory committee, according to Chertoff spokesman Russ Knocke and the Secret Service.

Secret Service spokesman Eric Zahren would not provide details of what led to the extra security, but said, "I'm not aware it was based on any threat." According to the Department of Homeland Security, there were no known threats and Obama requested the protection.

Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, has a Secret Service detail that is provided to all former first ladies.

The agency and the department would not comment on the scope of Obama's protection or provide any other security details. Obama's campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the extra security.

In the last election, Democratic candidates John Kerry and John Edwards received their protection in February 2004 as they were competing for the party's nomination. Obama's detail comes nine months before the first votes are cast.

Federal law allows candidates to seek protection if they meet a series of standards, including public prominence as measured by polls and fundraising. The members of the congressional advisory committee are the Speaker, the House and Senate majority and minority leaders as well as one additional member.

In a Feb. 12 interview with The Associated Press, Obama dismissed concerns about his own security, but would not answer directly when asked if he had received death threats. The Rev. Jesse Jackson drew early Secret Service protection because of violent threats during his campaigns for president in the 1980s.

"I face the same security issues as anybody," the Illinois senator told the AP. "We're comfortable with the steps we have taken."

Presidents of Irish Descent

The following are the 16 Presidents of the Republic who have Irish ancestral origins. The extent of this varies. For example, both Andrew Jackson's parents were Irish born whilst George W. Bush has a rather distant Irish ancestry. Presidents Kennedy and Reagan, have stronger Irish origins and fall much closer in terms of date. Reagan, for example, had an Irish great grandfather. It is of particular sociological and historical note that whereas only "8 out of 28 Presidents from the institution of the office in 1789 until 1921 possessed elements of Irish ancestry, since Kennedy took office in 1961 every President bar one, Gerald Ford, has had Irish blood". However, only John F. Kennedy was Catholic.
