. . .

All of which have a place to go to instead of flying to KC when there is business to discuss.

That's why there's Dave Weiner over there acting as official spokesman for Travis and playing the A & R game while big T is over in Blue Springs intimidating the shit out of someone in his dimly lit, noir-style, mob figure office.
They're not in Blue Springs anymore either. The new building they built is in Lee's Summit, MO which is about 15 miles or so outside of KC.

Wherever the fuck they are, the point is they're not in Cali full-time.

Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, etc. are all basically off-shoots of the KC area anyway.

Listen I don't know where you got all butthurt by my comments all of a sudden, but to clarify why I say "who cares" in this thread...

1. Nobody on this forum really likes the mainstream in the first place.

2. This thread is 50 years old.

3. Only a handful of people on this forum are from KC anymore.

4. Who gives a shit if the KC music scene becomes mainstream? It's not like music coming out of KC has a largely unique sound.

Oh, and 5. Despite putting out KC BBQ albums, Strange is based out of LA.
1.Who cares if anyone on this forum likes mainstream? Half of the people on this forum are fucking idiots so what does that say?

2. They are on this forum for a KC rapper. So more than likely they would be open to check out another kc rapper.

3. Yes, KC does have a different sound. Why do you think nobody has blown up.

What's so diff about the "KC sound" other than them being mediocre rappers who all hate each other? Tech is the damn shit. It doesn't matter where he comes from, he's dope. There isn't a "KC sound" in Tech's music IMO. There's a little bit of speed coming out of KC sound, but KC isn't the first place on the planet to rap fast.

The point is, for a place to "blow up" that means they're accepted by a mainstream audience. Tech put out what some people around here call a mainstream sounding record and people talked shit about it for weeks. So why would they want KC artists to "blow up" anyhow, if all they're going to do is hate on it?

There's no way a KC artist is going to become famous and then bring in other KC artists into the fold to the point where they start selling records. Everyone in KC just fights with each other and puts out diss tracks on people that live next door to them.

I would consider Cash Money a place "Blowing Up"...
Cash Money, a place? You mean New Orleans?

I agree. That's why I love Tech, because he DOESN'T sound like KC rap. Tech definitely has a "midwest sound" but not a KC sound. KC in general doesn't really have a midwest sound. Most of it is some Jim Jones mixed with Rick Ross mixed with Young Jeezy shit. I can only handle it in small doses. But then again, I don't live in the hood and sell crack, so it's hard for me to relate to much of what they rap about or even find it intriguing for that matter.
