In a city known for its jazz heritage, recently Kansas City has been getting national attention for its local pop and hip-hop talent. A Kansas Citian won the popular American Idol contest, and the current King of the KC rap scene, Tech N9ne, has the #1 independent selling rap album in the country. Will the success of these artists open the door for a market that has been missing on the music radar? The test will be realized once the KC music scene is recognized as a market that can produce successful talent. Entertainment thrives on, "the next hot thing". If the Kansas City music scene is the "next hot thing", who is ready to ride the wave to the promised land of success?

No. Plain and simple. Just because there are some talented artists in an area doesn't mean all the other are gonna do as well. there is nothing in the water. no matter where you go. No place has "ever blown up". New York and LA might seem that way to the uneducated eye... but nah, that's where the corporate end of the "music business" is held. it doesn't mean LA and New York or London produce more talented people.

Edit: as far as im concerned KC and Missouri has already "exploded" with all the Jazz shit and Tech and all. Anyone who feels they are somehow entitled to a free ride on the wing of one of these talented individuals/companies just because they're from the same geographical area are fake. I, personally, dont want fake shit.

Why do you feel the need to post here, if the only resposes you're going to get are from the white dickriders you hate so much?

I agree with Tom. If you've already stereotyped people on here with your "I dislike whites because they've done did my kind wrong" semantics, what's the point?

And yes, sure, there are times when a geographical area seems to be "the hip thing" or whatever the fuck people would call it these days.

But, it's based on nothing but a trend, a fashion. These trends die out real fuckin quick and the only reason they ever get to exist is because they're marketed to 10 YEAR OLD WHITE GIRLS

ok. I'm generalizing. but that kind thing never holds any water as far as music is concerned.

This is business, stop taking EVERYTHING so personal.
From what i understand, this is a public place of interaction.
With that said, isn't it also similar to going to, say, school?
You see the same people daily, and how you stand with those people affect the daily goings on, right?

Well my kind sir, you have pissed the majority of the establishment off. So to continue here, especially with your dislike of the majority of the race, contradicts what you yourself have said.

Finally!!! Someone that is a fan of KANSAS CITY music. I think it can go down too. I didn't want to drop names, but everyone you named has potential to do it big for "The Town". Some other names i'll like to throw out there is Jae Casino and the Block Life/Major Factor movement that is growing by the day...

Anybody hatin on KC music can't be from "The Town". Kansas City is the place in case u did not know...

It's possible KC can blow up, but I doubt it will. I highly disagree with dude too. Areas such as Houston, Atlanta, and Miami have gotten a boost of recognition. Not just NY and LA.

so has detroit, chicago, and the bay...
its not like KC cant blow up. but what/who does KC have? KC has no gimmick like snap music and that garbage. KC has no major label artists, no rapper that has a huge fanbase outside of the city that can bring attention to the local rappers.

Mon E G just got a single with Florida?? maybe he can do something. Most likely it will just be forgotton in a couple months... Blocklife new cd is good, but it's still not the same calibur as mainstream acts... Tech and Strange Music are the ONLY camp in KC that is currently PUTTING OUT mainstream quality music, most cd's out the town have shit for mixing and mastering and beat selection.

I have never heard of any of them. The only PERSON that will make Kansas City blow up is Tech.
