What y'all think? Looks like a renaissance to me.

Quinn and Done Deal, Frontline, Keak, E-A-Ski, 40 and Sick Wid It, The Team, Thug Lordz and WCM, Balance, Goapele, Rick Rock and The Federation, Cellski and Keise, Sean T, Allen Anthony, Mystic, Jacka, Paris, Baldhead Rick, Planet Asia, Delinquents, Mess, "On The Block" & "BA Big Shot", Bill Stack, $hort (sorta reppin' the Yay),Rasco, Mac Dre and Thizz Ent., Hieros, "Friday Night Vibe", Saafir, underground media, radio and video, Mistah FAB and a million others... shit... even Brotha Will Hung (alright, just clownin')

But we ain't made this much noise since the mid to late 90s which, IMO, was our "Golden Age". If only MTV and BET knew... Thoughts? Comments?

first we need to get rid of these bullshit radio playlists, so we can get bay rap all over the country. Or at least a tv appearance or two on say The Bassment or 106th and park

It takes SALES! That's what the majors care about! They could care less if the hype is here. Money talks! So until some of our artist start moving MAJOR units the bay is on
stand still. But hopefully some of the groups mentioned will break the ice and sell like crazy! Then the majors will come
knockin...

It's hard being an indie now days!

But I still believe it's only a matter of time!

This is jus the beginning.....we ain't there yet....it's a good start though....it's gonna take the work of all dedicated bay area artists to bring this shit to what it was back in the 90's....we got some good strong future releases coming...so this just might be the Bay's year....

Not yet... We will once we have videos in circulation..... Either through a Bay TV station or BET/MTV + 2 exposure......

Radio and Magz help but dont throw the artist in your face like good ole boob toobs... Remember videos from the folowing cats.... Dre Dog, Mac Mall, RBL, 11-5, E40, Click, N2 Deep, Celly Cell, GRP, PTS, Ray Luv, Pac, Too many to list.. Thats what we had running round in the late 90's... Compare to 2004 and there is your answer.... Lets make some more damn videos... and create a medium to show them off....

you missed out Baby Bash... he's the only one outta all them that gets frequent play out here in the UK...
Baby Beesh maybe, I would put him in the same category as Master P. Bash is reppin' Texas more now just like P with the N.O. They're both huge though.

I think the Bay is back as far as talent, but for the Bay to be a factor the Bay has to BUY BAY ARTIST ALBUMS!!! Don't download um, don't buy bootlegs GO IN THE STORE AND GIVE OUR ARTIST A CHANCE TO BE SUCCESSFUL...because without sound scan #'s all we doin is talkin.

If the bay is going to really be back it needs to be distroyed and rebuilt...I know it hurts, but the weak rappers got to get the fuck out...I don't care if you a new cat or a old nigga wit a legendary name...if yo product is suspect, time to go. It is time for the Bay to make stars not just turf celebs. but stars...so then you got to ask yo self who has the potiential to be a star...

My honest opinion, I thought Goapele and the Hieroglyphics were gonna bring it back 2 years ago, and they almost did. Right now they could do something about it but I don't see anything significant happening yet!

Well when the bay was at its best we had E-40, 4 tay, short, The Luniz, Pac and a few others with nationwide hits and a few others. We also had a big list of cats bringing underground bangers.

I think we got plenty of cats bringing underground heat nowadays, about as much as the good old days. But i think the east west thing wasn't as big as it is now and I still think the people that take part in the bay area fanbase is still about the same. The only people who know shit about the bay scene are the people who bumped it in the 90s and their littla brothers. You ask your average teenage girl (your biggest mainstream radio audience) even in the bay area and ask them who San Quinn, Jay Tee, Frontline etc is and I bet they won't be able to tell you. Most of the bay music is still testosterone drivin mobb and pimp songs and that stuff will never get on the radio.

People say the market is flodded with bullshit and thats the reason we really can't get it crackin, I beg to differ. You don't think they ain't 1000 hokey doke rappers in NYC, ATL and other hot cities flooding their market? I'm sure there are and they seem to be doing pretty well. What we need is a house hold name like a Dre, Jay Z Eminem etc type here in the bay. We need the promotion that these mainstream artists have which I'm sure costs a bundle. We need a powerhouse label in the bay loke the ROC, Aftermath, Murder INC to get that kind of exposure. Ex no one cared about 50 cent till em put him on, "oh sht hes gonna be produced by em and Dre? this is gonna be hot" is what the people say. We need cats to say on a nationwide level " EX what "Jay Tee is puttin him on? Ooooh he gonna have Johnny Z, K-lou etc on the beats thats gonna be hot!"

This debate has popped up in threads a number of times and you can go on and on with this.
