how much time do y'all spend at the gym actually working out? 45 minutes to an hour is good.. anything longer youre wasting your time unless youre chillin in the sauna, hot tub or taking a shower.

for those trying to lose weight but gain muscle/strenght.. check out madcow 5x5 OR this website ive been going to is even better.. its called www.stronglifts.com it shows you how to do every exercise correctly, what to eat, basically every question you can think of is on that blog/forum

OH and they also have an ebook you can download it has the stronglifts 5x5 workout outlined and everything.

90% dieting???

that's bullshit

When I work out I'm in way better shape then when I'm not... and I hardly change my diet

I actually just take in more calories when I am working out

if you have good metabolism you can honestly eat like shit and be in great shape if you work out hard enough

look at Michael Phelps
you speed up your metabolism by lifting weights.. and dieting is such an overrated term, it literally means you eat alot of just one thing rather than what people think it means.. "oh im dieting, im not eating this.. but im going to eat this and this so i can lose weight"

I understand phelps is an extreme example... but I'd like to know where you heard getting into shape is 90% diet and only 10% training... my guess is its closer to 50-50

and it also depends if you wanna lose weight or gain muscle

and it depends what extreme ur talking about... are you talking about eating mcdonalds 3 meals a day compared to eating nothing but salad and chicken breast???

Im not saying what you eat is irrelevant but to say training is irrelevant is just flat out stupid

i used it but i mainly focused on my squats, i was benching 230, deadlifts i dont remember, squating like 240, i went up to 390-420 in squats. And im 6'0 225 lbs.. i stopped now because ive been training in jiu jitsu and i dont have as much time to work out.

Its 90% dieting thats going to get you into shape. If you eat shit food it doesnt matter how hard you workout.
I'm with the other 52 people in this thread that think that's inaccurate. I've known plenty of people that had a good diet but couldn't do 20 push ups or run 2 miles. A good diet will prevent you from getting fat but to be in shape it's more like 80% exercise 20% diet.

My thoughts on personal trainers are this. They're great for people that are new to working out and need some guidance on how to exercise correctly/safely or for people that need the motivation but that's it. Let them teach you the basics on how to do a certain lift correctly then go from there.

Usually if you go to 10 different personal trainers you'll get 10 different forms of advice on how to do something.

This is not 100% true in any way, shape, or form.

If you are burning the same amount of calories brought in on a given day, it doesnt make a difference what you eat. if you have a blanaced diet, you will do those things you mentioned FASTER...but thats all.
