To tell you that everything you are doing in your workout is wrong, whether it is how you are doing the exercise or your entire workout routine? I'm guessing this is their sales pitch, to tell you that "you are doing everything wrong but if you pay me $60 for a one-hour session I'll show you how to do it correctly". God damn it, these people are more annoying than used car salesmen. Just leave me the fuck alone. As long as I am losing fat and gaining muscle, I must be doing something right.

Yeah I wonder how people ever worked out before personal trainers? Them fools are for people who aren't self motivated and need someone to get in their ass or they'll just say fucc it. Or stupid people who don't how to run or do a push up.

Honestly personal trainers are there to be your spotter... they'll push you to work out harder but lifting weights and doing some aerobics in the gym isn't going to get you in shape

I dont think its their policy, I think its their job to train you, If I have somebody watching over me that has been deemed some level of expert in that field i would hope theyd be telling me what i was doing wrong, instead of just taking my money and bullshitting with their friends while i waste my cash working out wrong, or hurting myself. I myself dont need a trainer I know how to excerise, but for someone that doesnt know what theyre doing or just starting out, whats wrong with dude telling them theyre doing it wrong?

Sometimes it's important (especially with lifting weights) to examine the form of a novice and correct lopsided lifts; basically, you don't want to have one side of your body noticeably different than the other. It happens.

Well as a CPT I can tell you that the trainer is there for their eyes just as much as they are for their knowledge and motivation. If you're doing something the wrong way and they don't correct your form they are a bullshit trainer and you are not going to be getting the maximal gains (or losses) for your efforts that you would otherwise get. Not to mention that there is potential for serious injury when your technique is bad. If you're doing something wrong and the trainer lets you know about it, don't take it as a personal insult. Listen to your trainer. That's what you hired him for. A lot of the time people don't want to listen to the trainer and dont want to stick to the nutritional plan and they dont see the results they expect and then they wanna blame the trainer.

A good PT will write you up a diet based on what you are trying to accomplish. Whether you do something right or wrong, its not really that, its just that there are better ways to do it. But I guess thats how they get their clietele. I've never seen a PT go up to someone and say "hey you are doing that wrong" though.

Its 90% dieting thats going to get you into shape. If you eat shit food it doesnt matter how hard you workout.
90% dieting???

that's bullshit

When I work out I'm in way better shape then when I'm not... and I hardly change my diet

I actually just take in more calories when I am working out

if you have good metabolism you can honestly eat like shit and be in great shape if you work out hard enough

look at Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps is a genetic freak. His VO2 Max is about 30+ percent higher than normal people, has an extremely high metabolism and trains as a world class athlete. I wouldn't use him as an example when talking about the average person, not even relatively athletic people.
