I guess superior would be the wrong word to use...maybe just 'much better.' Before the Gulf War, Iraq had the 4 largest army in the world..after they had the 25th largest...their airforce was also torn to shreds, not to mention the fact that since 1992 or 1993 weve been bombing Iraq dozens of times a year anyways...We had quite a head start in Iraq, as Paul Wolofowitz once said "it is the ripest fruit" in the middle east which we picked.

Plus, politically it would be disastorous...the Jihad and terror style attacks taking place would me magnified 10x that of Iraq given it is a larger country with more people, has a national religion, and the fact that Sunni and Shia terrorist organizations now cooperate and work together instead of being fundamentaly opposed on theory as they once were. Also, estimates run in the high 60% of Iranians who want better relations with the US...you think they will want better relations with the US when we take their sovereignty and impose a different form of government?

I agree that in terms of a conventional war, Iran would topple quickly but as Iraq shows the Mission isnt always accomplished at the end of war...when you invade a country you are inheriting a U Break it U Buy it position, you gotta rebuild the infastructure, build a democracy or government which the people approve, and bring business in to pay for it...all while still in a guerilla war with terrorists.

irans military wasnt destroyed by sanctions like iraqs was during the 90s. iranians got a large airforce, 550,000 man army which isnt demoralized, about 400 missles which could easily kill thousands of americans in iraq with the press of a button. tons of other modern military technology from russia too. comparing iraqs military to irans is useless.

People are sort of missing the point of the war in Iraq. It was to establish an arab run democracy in the region, the influence of which would cause revolution in the region. Bush is aware a victory in Iran is untenable. We established a democracy in Iraq in hopes we won't ever have to go.

The "OFFICIAL" reason this is happening is because Iran is a nuclear threat to america and part of the Axis of Evil. Iran has nuclear enrichment programs and will create nukes to harm america.

The "OFF THE RECORD" reason (which is reality) is stability of the american dollar and opec manipulation (oil) and finally get the WW3 campaign going. I can list several more also........

I've heard a theory that America (leaders and whoever else) is trying to end the world. IE: the last battle in bagdhad, rebuilding the temple, etc...Leading to WW3...and the coming of the messiah, and shit...One of my sociology profs was talking about it.

Yeah i heard that Bush himself believes in the apocalypse, but will not go on record about it....and now, with a destabilized Iraq, they're going to go after Iran? end of times.....

You know whats trippy? When I started reading this thread, the thing that instantly came over my head was how a couple of generals and colonels trying to get Donald Rumsfeld out of his seat, and now im starting to know why they trying to get him out. Shit is stirring up.
