He said "in THIS MOMENT of time"...so at THAT very moment...YOU were alone in that opinion.

Im sure at THIS moment in time, we can ALL agree that he is slowly reaching Leaf status.
Thanks for clearing it up, and you are correct about him slowly reaching Leaf status, although he's already surpassed Leaf in NFL accomplishments if you really think about it...

I was going to give him a 2 full years for me to decide whether or not I thought he was a bust, but it looks like I'm only going to need a season and a half.

Smith just doesn't look like a true QB. He looks scared, indecisive, he's not accurate, doesn't have poise, and he especially doesn't have that "IT" factor that everybody says all quaterbacks need to be successful. I just don't see it. I feel I gave him enough chance, but it's time to move on. I'm tired of sticking up for him and feeling sorry for him at the same time.

I can't wait until next year...hopefully we can pick up a decent QB via free agency or through the draft, because we're going to need one.

ALEX SMITH DOESNT EVEN LOOK LIKE A QB. HE LOOKS LIKE A FUCKIN PUNTER! HE SUCKS BALLS. AND THE NINERS PLAY CALLING SUCKS BALLS. THEY ENTIRE COACHING STAFF NEEDS TO BE FIRED. DEMOTE MIKE NOLAN TO DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AND BRING IN SOMEONE WILL WILL TURN THIS DAMN FRANCHISE AROUND. OR THEY CAN SELL THE FRANCHISE TO STEVE YOUNG AND COMPANY! DAMMIT!

SMITH IS A BUST.

CAREER STATS

19 TD'S AND 31 INTS

3 FULL SEASONS AND ONLY 19 TOUCHDOWNS ? WOW

BTW THEY ASKED NOLAN...

RE: Is there any thought to signing a quarterback?

“Next week there might be, from a numbers standpoint, for practice. It could very well be a practice squad player.”

And you have not watched the niners much, have you?

3 full seasons? He hasnt even played 2 full seasons, yet alone 3.

I guess he wasnt hurt this year either..........

as a niner fan u really think that next season he will be better? he already has accuracy problems, it seems like u really like something in him that makes u want to wait to see him make progress so what is it? wouldnt u rather have ur team sign someone else who will help the niners while smith will be learning and hopefully at the end of next season be better? or do u really think smith is the one to lead this team to the playoffs and make a dominant offence

even before he got injured he didnt play as good as he should of, but just think maybe it might be the best for him to sit on the bench for another season and learn from a vet, seems like it helped romo on the cowboys bein on the bench for a few seasons. im not even a niner fan but i think they need to sign a vet who has played more and has a lot more experience to at least help smith out dilfer aint enough and with the right qb smith might just be able to earn the niners starting qb

Do I really think he will be better? I dont know, I hope so but you never know.

Look at his situation, 3 different coordinators, played on 3 pretty bad teams, got hurt halfway thru his 2nd starting season. He hasnt even played 2 full seasons yet. I didnt even mention that he's the youngest starting QB in the league still, while he's in his third season. Who does he have to throw the ball to anyway? Arnaz Battle has been his best receiver. I mean that says alot right there.

I never wanted Smith in the first place. I thought we should drafted Edwards and wanted for the next draft.

You cant really sign another player and let 7 million dollars "develop". The only way to get better is to play and get experience. Im trying to give him a chance, Im not going to just write him off just because he's not the greatest QB at the age of 23.

or do u really think smith is the one to lead this team to the playoffs and make a dominant offence
He might or he might not be. Playoffs and dominate is not really in the 49ers vocabualry right now anyways.

even before he got injured he didnt play as good as he should of
How good should he have been right now? He was the number one pick because the niners couldnt trade down and had to pick. He was playing better last year and the only difference in the offense besides the improvement(if you can call it that) in receivers, is the coordinator and Johnson leaving.

but just think maybe it might be the best for him to sit on the bench for another season and learn from a vet, seems like it helped romo on the cowboys bein on the bench for a few seasons.
How do you know that it help Romo? Truthfully he didnt even have a choice and Romo wasnt even picked, let alone number 1. It might help him or it might not.

I think with the right coordinator he might be better. Dilfer is a good QB, he lead the Ravens to the Super Bowl and can help Smith becaom better. He just cant help the niners become better because of his age.

YOU WERE MAKING SOME DECENT POINTS BUT YOU KILLED YOURSELF RIGHT HERE...
I guess was would be a better word.

Dilfer wasnt a horrible QB his whole career, its just that he's old and playing on the worst offense in the league. He wasnt brought in to play at all, he was here to help guide Smith into the right direction.

Quote:

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that agent Tom Condon is blaming the 49ers for causing tendinitis in quarterback Alex Smith's arm as a result of treatment given to Smith by the team for his separated shoulder.
We realize that it's Condon's job to represent the interests of Smith, but it would make a lot more sense for Condon to either deal with these matters privately -- or to pursue the matter through the union.
Though it's possible that someone from the 49ers leaked Condon's complaint to Mortensen, it's equally likely that Condon is leaking the information as part of a P.R. attack against the team.
If that's the case, it's unfortunate. And it's risky. Just ask Scott Boras.
Meanwhile, it's starting to look like Smith and the 49ers are heading for a divorce.
