You don't have to live in the United States to learn about its current state of affairs. If he has access to the internet, then he has access to the same information as you and I.

Do you work for the US government? CIA/FBI? Because if you don't, then "You don't see what [they] see." And you never will. So whether you live here or not is completely irrelevant.
