would you expect to get paid if the client didn't like it?
HELL YEAH. Rappers and graphic designers are the same business wise. You think a rapper like the ones you listed would drop a verse and hope to get paid only if you liked it? No. You think time stops when we're designing? It doesn't.

A graphic designer is the same, we get paid to design which involves planning, thinking, execution and presentation. There's more in between. There's always an upfront payment and I usually get my pay in 1/3's or 1/4's (1. Signing contract 2. Draft approval 3. Final Approval 4. Delivery of finals)

I do a consultation before I do anything and come up with the direction, propose it on paper and sign off. Anything within those parameters in the proposal is good and anything outside is going to be charged, usually an hourly rate.

But I think a lot of the designers here deal with clients that arent corporate but it's still good practice to have paperwork even if you trust them.

Yeah you can probably get away with not paying some low-level, college student designer but most of the cats on here who have a great resume and experience, that shit ain't gonna fly. Get a payment upfront!

holla at me if you want me to design your cover

Im aware of alot of dope designers (my preference is Phantom also Shemp & Evilwayz got dope work, but if thats what we wanted I wouldn't have made this thread)I know there are alot of talented people on this forum & this isn't the 1st time something like this has been requested. If someone can come up with something acceptable they can make some $ & maybe some return business(My people need 10 covers ASAP thats just the 1st one).

Thanks to anyone who puts an effort forward.

Lol @ show us a sample and we'll pay if we like it. Doesnt work like that. We know what that means...thats a way of gathering ideas so that u can go to some 14 year old and have them flip it for dirt cheap. These dudes are asking for half upfront, I do FULL payments upfront. Ducking the fraud everytime.
