Let's take a look at "America." It's basically ran by corporations. If you go to the root of it, you'll find that money is the reason. "America" has reached a point to where it's commercialized. You can't walk a block without seeing an advertisement. You can't watch television or listen to the radio without a commercial. Even sports... you can't watch a simple ball game or boxing fight without seeing an advertisement. You even get phone calls from people trying to capitalize on you!
Also, what people wear is controlled by the media. Who or what controls the media? Every form of "advancement" is not to make our lives easier, it's to make more money. Most of the tools we buy today were once used by the government, then later released out to the public because they'd make money, and because they created something better. The public is probably ten "technoligical" years behind the government. They were probably using CD's back in the 70's and we had no idea if such thing ever existed, or doubts if such thing could ever exist. Television, radio, magazines, billboards, and the internet are forms of "human advancement," which are being used to increase sales/promote corporations.
Money is the main reason why the government ignores the rest of the population. If it made them more money, they'll allow a major corporation to tear your whole neighborhood down and replace it with an oil refinery. What about the people who will become homeless? They don't want to hear that, all they know is they're getting money.
Major corporations basically do whatever they want and as long as the government's payed (over or under the table) it will keep happening. Action has to be taken. We, the people, need to fight to be heard. After all, was this government made "by the people for the people" or "by the people for major corporations"? Keep that in your thoughts.
With my observation expressed, I think it's good that people are fighting cigarette companies. I know smoking is optional, but why do people smoke? Let's fast forward here... because it's the "cool" thing to do. Not only that, but it's addicting. I would call that a trap! Why not remove all the addictive ingredients from it? Why are those ingredients even allowed? Those who smoke are made to believe that smoking is "cool," so if you want to be "cool," smoke. Just remember that you're basically killing yourself... and paying for it! Everything the government doesn't make money from is considered "illegal." I might as well charge $100 for an electric chair ride. And I won't get arrested for "murder," know why? Because the government's being payed, and as long as I keep paying them, I can continue to do so...
