those numbers are a bit off. i dont recall a movie being 8 bucks in the last 3-4 years

The average ticket price at theaters in the U.S. in 2010= $7.89
The figure represents a national average of theaters in big cities and small towns alike, and includes lower-priced matinees and children's prices.
In the fourth quarter, the average price was $8.01

We don't have the numbers from 2011 yet, but with the added cost of 3D tickets and the general rise in prices will bump that over $8 easy. Maybe you live in a small town, go to matinees, or are a child?

nein! nein! nein! nein!

Even if you could come up with an original story, pitch it, and say it gets picked up. the problem with Hollywood is just like anything else in america it's about maximizing profits. So you have the investors and the big companies they don't want to take "risks" on "original" ideas, so they will change your story, change the ending to be happy or whatever they feel is best and at the end, it's their movie, not yours.

Take Inception for example. That was an original story, nothing like that has been done before and it was a massive success. But it almost never happened. It only happened because Christopher Nolan is such a powerhouse he was able to convince the investors (warner bros.) to trust him and give him a huge budget required for a film like that. That is not normal in Hollywood. If it was just about anyone else, the movie would have never been made.

Inception also proves wrong that the viewers are to blame for the lack of original stories, as it generated over $825 million dollars worldwide.

Sure, we can all watch older classics which many of us do, as shown with the popularity of Netflix and the likes, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to complain about the current state of Hollywood, which lets face it, is pure shit. It's no different than the music industry or anything else which only cares about money, nothing more, and as a result, we get worse and worse products because they all just try to copy the blueprint of what has been successful in the past and as a result we get the same type of shit over and over.
funny you say "nein! nein! nein! nein!" to me which by the way is funny because the same thing you said for inception can be said for Inglourious Basterds and how that did well. but why you say that but then pretty much say the same shit i was saying. only difference is i'm saying stop the complaining and your embracing it. theaters and hollywood are in it to make money and always has been. they're not in it to make us happy which lets face it people like me and you are in the minority as it is so if anything hollywood is doing what they have to do to feed the masses the dumb shit they like. if anything people should be happy that the movies suck nowadays in theaters since it saves you that much more money to do better shit or even buy a better movie to watch whenever you want. i only see like 3-4 movies a year now which is really good on my wallet rather than going 20+ times like 10 years ago.

really? i thought the last sherlock was at least like 7/10, it was entertaining, but overly hollywood cheesy if that makes sense

from the previews of the new one it looks like theyre trying too hard.

yea i think ill cehck out that girl with the dragon tattoo, shit looks cool
i agree with you but some kid that felt the same as me and you wenyt and saw it and he said it was well worth the money to go see it and it was better the the OG. but with movies like that i just wait for downloadable ones to watch. only with movies like Drive & The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will get extra money from me.

Let me know if you find anything because I got free movie tickets for Christmas myself, but I already watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (before I got the free tickets.) Nothing else catches my interest as of late.
