Does airplay on KMEL even matter if it's not in national rotation? If you want to get paid you better get on that national Cumulus/Radio 1/Clear Channel list. Where we have to hear the same 8 songs all day 5 times per day each. KMEL plays the hell out of Kafani but I don't think he's moving units like that.

KMEL's a start. but i dont know how far you can go with one of the 2 words in your stage name being "nigga".

To answer your question...I've gotten further than a lot of the poeple around me from a reconignition stand point...and if needs be all I have to do is drop the NIGGA and keep UGLY for any corporate dealings if that should present itself. It aint really that big of a deal.

Yes 106.1KMEL matters...if you start getting good rotation on your song...promoters look and listen and are ready to pay you for performing at thier events. You get to launch your music an see what takes shape retool if you have to then make a broader radio campagne.

i understand and not doubting the recognition. but that only goes so far when you got an explicit stage name while trying to hit light commercial play. they just dont go together.

Ugly, I suggest you say something more important than "I to the double L" in the first minute of your song. After the first minute of just that repeating, I have no interest in hearing the rest of the song, which is a shame, because you can flow. Cut that first minute of bullshit off of the song and it has potential.
