Like I've said in other threadz.....i don't even watch videos unless I'm flippin thru the channelz & just happen 2 stop-which iz also rare.

I use 2 watch Rap City faithfully back in the 90's but sometime around 1999 I stopped completly.

Slick Rick wore tonz of bling but he also had good rhymes, a story 2 tell & a video that went with the song. Rakim talked about being paid in full but he didn't sound commercial when rhyming about hiz paper. Thatz also what I love about Mitchy Slick cuz he can rhyme about husltlin but discribes it in way where he had 2 get hiz clothez dirty while gettin it instead of makin it look eazy

Whenever I look @ videos from the 80's & early 90's I see major creativity, I see videos that go with the song, I see videos that are cinematic & are twisted into a story. I really miss that shit.

Video hoez were very limited cuz artist didn't use that kind of shit 2 entertain u. Everyone had a limited budget & had 2 use orginality & creativity.

Now every fuckin video(i mean everyone) haz the same shit. Rented carz, Rented Mansions, rented bitchez, rented everything. I blame the directors az much az the artist cuz they're behind thiz bullshit. Throwing money in the air makes a artist so out of touch with audiance cuz how many people watching that shit can relate 2 it?
Co-signed 666% That's why rap is lying in the casket.

I don't see any difference between fools throwing money around in videos... And Slick Rick in his prime (that fool had tons of chains)... Eric B & Rakim (Paid in Full)... Mr. T (I pity the fool)... I just don't understand why folks hate to see Blackmen making money...
The difference is, I dont ever remember seeing Slick Rick, Rakim or Mr T throwing around stacks of money on Yo MTV Raps or The A-Team. Flossing has always been a part of hip hop culture, just as bragging in your rhymes has been. I still think throwing away money is some ignorant bullshit.

PS This thread was inspired by Jeezy's new video. I was thinking that Jeezy has skills and charisma, he doesnt need to stoop to that level...

Man, you can't be serious... Slick Rick and Big Daddy Kane looked ridiculous wearing dookie gold ropes and four finger rings... It's 2007... Jeezy can't wear 30 gold links and diamonds in his teeth, 'cause it's already been done... If he wants to flaunt his wealth (In a way that no other rapper before him has) he has to throw money around... He's the next generation... One in a long line of flossing rappers that goes back to the 80's... 'Kid Sensation dropped a twenty and didn't even miss it/ Some skeezer from another crew she picked it up and kissed it'

Are you on crack? Why does every damn rapper nowadays have an iced out platinum chain? Its basically todays version of the dookie rope. Im saying that flauntin your wealth through driving an expensive car or wearing a chain is completely different than throwing money away. Throwing money in front of poor people is the equivalent of pissing on a turkey dinner in front of an ethiopian...

what would be the difference if young jeezy just walked thru the hood and gave everyone he came in contact with $20....
That would be completely different. The act of throwing away money "at the camera" in a music video has completely different intent than giving $20 to every person in the hood. The viewer is to assume that Jeezy is so rich that he throws money away and doesnt even give a fuck...

of course you should mind your own. but dont act like each individual has a sphere around him/her and nothing that anyone does has an affect on anybody else. like i said if your kid is acting like a jackass because hes emulating the jackass' on tv, that wouldnt bother you? i hate what rappers do on tv, because i work with a bunch of kids who have a completely twisted view of reality, because they are completely brainwashed by anything young jeezy or ignorant-bling-rapper-mcqueef say or do. yeah that shit gets annoying, and it does have an affect on me, the families of those kids, and society in general

Do u know what your even typing? Jeezy has 2 flaunt hiz wealth in a way that hasn't been done? GTFOH!!

Jeezy aint the first rapper 2 throw money in the air. What the fuck do u mean "he has to flaunt his wealth"? He WANTS to flaunt hiz wealth. I'm not even trying 2 get into no bullshit convo about Jeezy's untalented azz.

Bottom line, throwing $ in the air lookz stupid . Itz true that flossing in videos has been around 4 a long time. Ice-T flossed a lot in hiz videos he did back in the day but unlike the artist 2day he had a message he would get accross 2 hiz listeners. I'm Your Pusher, New Jack Hustler & High Roller were all flossy videoz but Ice took responsibility 4 hiz shit & still had a positive message about the game without contridicting himself, sounding hypocritical & corny. Artist 2day are on some trying 2 out ball the next nigga bullshit. Even the new niggaz who are debuting are on that shit knowing they broke az fuck.

Can your monkey ass read? I wrote if Jeezy WANTS to flaunt his wealth (In a way that no other rapper before him has) he has to throw money around (go back and re-read what I wrote)... I just don't understand how you bitter old schoolers say flossing has always been around then get mad and bent out of shape when the next generation puts there own spin on it (throwing money in the air, putting diamonds in their teeth)... As the saying goes... The more things change the more they stay the same... And yeah, GENIUS (I use the term loosely) I do know what I'm typing... So get your weight up slim and step off...

Then explain "in a way no rapper before him haz". Like I said he aint the first 2 throw $. These rap videos remind me of that scene @ the end of Paid In Full.

No one here iz a bitter old schooler young man. If u read any of my other post u would see where I talked about flossing being around 4 a long time but artist like Slick Rick had some substance in hiz lyrics & hiz videos, Rakim talkin about gettin hiz money without sounding commercial, Ice-T ballin in hiz videos but explaining in hiz lyrics how the game iz fake so don't get caught up in it. Plus Slick Rick just wore tonz of jewlery he didn't sit up rapping about it on every fuckin song. He had actual good content, an original style, a unique flow & look. I like some new skool rapperz but 90% are following trendz not settin them. No one iz denying that gimmicks & blinging have been in hip hop 4 yearz but the shit iz way out of hand cuz niggaz don't have 2 have originality & creativity 2 make it.

No I'm not saying that. I feel like thiz. If u wanna floss then go ahead & floss but @ the same time bring some original conceptz & diversity 2 your video & try 2 not just get hung up on showing off material items. Thatz like if a person just showz off hiz benz, hiz iced out watch & hiz big azz crib just 2 attract females then u can peep that he haz no game. Now on the other hand if a guy came up on a notch by spittin game in her ear & not trickin off hiz paper & makin her bring some tangiblez then who are u gonna give propz to? Thatz right the nigga who used the less iz more 2 come up tactic without fronting.
