Nah I make good money, even though more is always good. I just think it is so fuking ignorant to throw your financial status in other peoples face. It shows low class IMO...

It shows ignorance and shows that the people doing it have absolutely no class. Rap music was originally created as an artform for people that didnt have shit. Its cool that people are now making money from it, and bragging about material things like cars and jewellery has always been a part of it. Throwing money in your video and at your shows is disrespectful to people that dont have a fucking thing...

Whenever I look @ videos from the 80's & early 90's I see major creativity, I see videos that go with the song, I see videos that are cinematic & are twisted into a story. I really miss that shit.

Video hoez were very limited cuz artist didn't use that kind of shit 2 entertain u. Everyone had a limited budget & had 2 use orginality & creativity.

Now every fuckin video(i mean everyone) haz the same shit. Rented carz, Rented Mansions, rented bitchez, rented everything. I blame the directors az much az the artist cuz they're behind thiz bullshit. Throwing money in the air makes a artist so out of touch with audiance cuz how many people watching that shit can relate 2 it?

i understand the video girls part. but i gotta disagree with you on the first point you made regarding videos in the early 80's and 90's, potnah. most of those videos were just cats rappin in their neighborhood. the cliche hip-hop videos that the roots tried to portray with their video for "what they do". i dont think rap videos really became cinematic until the mid 90's, with busta bust and those ill hip hop videos that spike jonez directed for pharcyde and beastie boys.

When I'm talking about cinematic I'm talking about "100 miles In Running, A Minute To Pray & A Second To Die, Warning & The Loc Is On His Own"(the later 2 comin out in 94, 95). There waz a story, action, damn near a mini movie. It waz catz just rapping around there hood but not all the time. Most important the song went with the video.

this all goes back to..."y care about what somebody else is doing"...if thats not you... then dont worry about it.... i wanna know why it pisses you off.....
so it wouldnt piss u off if rappers started grinding up on each other and sticking their fingers up each others buttholes (all guys) in their videos and so logically everywhere you go you have kids emulating them? and if you have kids yourself, u have to deal with teaching them how ridiculous they look doing shit like that.
its not you doing it but it has a major effect on the society around you...it doesnt bother you?

I don't see any difference between fools throwing money around in videos... And Slick Rick in his prime (that fool had tons of chains)... Eric B & Rakim (Paid in Full)... Mr. T (I pity the fool)... I just don't understand why folks hate to see Blackmen making money...

it's not a racial thing it's a question of quality of the music in most of the videos where money is flying around in: it becomes stupid because everyone else is doing it and you become a fuckin gimmick...same thing with bubba sparxxx doing booty songs now instead of the shit i liked on deliverance...same thing with eminem suddenly becoming a thug because he was the first white boy to jump on 50's dick...same thing with paul wall talking about his grillz all the damn time: it's a pathetic attempt to be accepted while compromising originality

I say get in where u fit in.. If u wanna throw money fine I aint sweatin it. But it does send a mixed up message to the uneducated about how things are(that doesn't apply to anyone here who posted). Mostly kids. What they see the think that's what I wanna be I want those girls those clothes and cars. When in reality throwing money doesn't apply to the video.
That shit is not entertaining at all. But to the kids that by the cd's what do they know. And if their favorite rapper has the most money cars and hoes in the video they assume that the rappers are beter based on that.(I worked at a school district for 2yrs). I've had these convos withem and had to schoolem on what's what in the real world of hiphop. And for the most part I met some smart kids who understand and I met some kids who just take it for what they see. All in all they are doing a disservice to the people by acting like this is how they get down and lets throw money around. But let communties they come from stay shitty.
Rap videos just aren't entertaining anymore. There is no creativity in songs or videos anymore. Mufuckas just gave up and want the quick buck. Shit aint art no more.
