I think this has little to do with geography.
How come everyone believes this myth that racism is relegated to the south? There aren’t racist crackers in Cali now?

There may be a difference between the expressions of racism geographically; that I'll agree with.
Put "whitey" alone in a booth, just him and "god", this stuff seeps out regardless of where in the country they live.

I guess you could call it opinion. But then again so is your statement about how "whitey" in cali is so much different.
It holds plenty of weight because we have seen it to be realized in real life situations(bradley effect).
From my personal experience people in the "north" have sublimated their racism and it comes out on a individual level and in close personal settings. I think that this distorts the view of many into believing racism to be a geographical thing.
Proportionally, I've seen(meaning actual life experience not some shit I read off the internet or saw on youtube) just as much racism expressed in Cali as anywhere else in the country.

generally speaking...it does seem that on the coasts ppl are more willing to change and progress. but of course if you drive inland enough even in cali or wherever youll run into your hick towns that still hate niggers, spics, and fags. it seems that in the middle of the country (especially the bible belt) its a little more likely for you to run into these type of towns where ppl just cant give up their traditional conservative and what theyve been fooled into believing "christian" values...in the end just ignorant. but theyre fun for the rest of us to laugh at
