I think you have to be from the bay because hyphy is the exhibition of what is engrained in your veins from living here, you could make hyphy music and be from somwhere else, and it might sound good, but its not genuine without the real life experience of livin here.

I was just telling my little sister that last night...I laugh at the so called "hyphy movement" because niggaz where I am from been retarded since way way back... And I'm a little confused on how bay cats can steal other niggaz culture but hate when someone does the same to them...I always thought dreads was a New York, Miami thing...the same with long ass necklaces and gold teeth... Bay rappers used used to have major spits and were northen california trendsetters...
