For real, i havent watched tv for about 4 months. And i bet i know the exact trend that rappers are wearing these days.

I ride most places to get where im going and living on public transit. Most of them are mostly black folks. I see so many kids all dressed out like tv.

I remember in a business class where we talked about different races consumer habits. Black families tend to be bargain shopers.

They (along with any other color of kids) who look up to rappers spend so much on fashion to impress the opposite sex interested in it.

Look at Nirvana, a mostly white audience band. They must only spend 5 bucks for an entire outfit from good will. They dont even have decent looking hair.

Look at rappers who blaze tv with cars and jewels and clothes. I swear they wear a dew rag, a hat on top, and have a tight fade. ALong with all the other accesories. Thousands of dollars to keep up.

This will keep the minorities and whites like them buyin and spending and working forever too keep up. It will keep them from ever saving for anything real important, especially when they retire.

I see it like that. What about you?

BLIgHT,
YOU HIT SOME POINTS BUT YET AND STILL YOUR PERCEPTION IS THAT OF AN OUTSIDER. RAP IN ITSELF IS NOT TO BLAME BUT THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF IT.

MUTHA-FUKAS LOOKIN' FOR RICHES TURN TO THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS, CUZZ IT'S LEgAL. SO IT SHOULDN'T BE TO NO SURPRISE THAT A THEME IN RAP IS TO gET PAID. gET YO HUSTLE ON PLAYA.

to a certain extent EDJ,

but you have to be honest also...you can't talk about hoes, and guns and money and sex and parade women like cattle, and not expect negative waves from it...

YOU of all people know what the bible teaches...you must represent truth, morale, honesty, integrity, love, compassion...

a minute percentage is maybe able to do this...

RAP music digs it's own grave...

when you RAP to the nation, you also TEACH the nation...just as any other musician or actor does...

example:

rap artist vs. a pastor

rap artist teaches death, self, money, hoes, live life materially...
a pastor teaches to love other, give, live for others and god, compassion...

rap artist does nothing constuctive for the community, besides throwing a few dollars here and there...
a pastor reaches DAILY to his community...

rap artist teaches a life that isn't real to the masses...
a pastor teaches life that is NEEDED for the masses...

just examples.....

now i'm not saying they should up and stop...it's their own life, they must choose, but do not be blind and deny that you as an individual are responsible for what you live and teach, regardless of what you try to say it means...

and yes BET and any other channel exploit rap, or rock, or whatever...

all for money...we destroy this planet...all for money...we will kill another man...all for money...

out...

WHAT I RAP ABOUT IS SHIT I'VE BEEN THRU AND MY POINTS OF VIEW ON SUBJECTS. I'M NOT PREACHIN' AND TEACHIN' FOO'S HOW TO KILL, SLANg, gET OVER OR WHAT NOT. I'M A REALIST AND SPEAK REALITY THRU MY EYES. MOST FOO'S DON'T RAP ON WHAT I RAP. I ALSO KNOW I AIN'T NO TYPE OF ROLE MODEL. CALL ME SELFISH OR WHATEVA, BUT I'M HERE STRUggLIN' TRYIN' TO FIND A WAY. I COULD CARE LESS IF A CHILD WANTS TO BE LIKE ME OR SEES ME DOIN' MY THANg AND PERCEIVES IT AS SOMETHIN' HE WOULD LIKE TO DO.

ALL I COULD DO IS WORRY ABOUT MYSELF AND SEE WHAT I CAN BRINg TO THE TABLE.

As in rap music. Thats where id pick up your cd in Sam Goddy or something right? The RAP section.

Most people think its all the same. Ask an old person. "It all sounds the same" they say. Many people not old say that. Even me, who listens to a wide variety or rap and hiphop thinks is is similar messages. I dont think it sounds the same, but i KNOW that 3out or 5 cds in a RAP section contain the same message, only from a different person with a similar twist. Mostly the same.

you got good and bad messages. Bad messages seem to prevail... making pople associate it with all the problems we see today such as crime.

Then im just sayin,
If you go on the street and ask 25 people what they think rap is all about, (25 different looking people, not just 25 people with Sean Jean jeans) you will find many have similar views. Weather good or bad. And they would be classifying your music in it all.

Some may have good input and talk about rap for 5 minutes. Most will give a one line answer.
