Now I know there are shitty parents of race and creed throughout America, but I keep saying this every week. My wife and I watch "Supernanny" every week. It's the only reality show we actually watch. We watch it because the whole concept is hilarious, parents putting themselves on national TV and saying "I don't know how to raise my kids". We also laugh at the fact that most of these little young brats, around the ages of 4-10, hit their parents and their parents do nothing about it.

What I always wonder every week is why every family is a white family and lives in an upper-middle class neighborhood?

What I want to see is Supernanny go to the hood, maybe go to a home that has only two bedrooms with three families all sharing the same house and there's about 20 people in the house and they all share one bathroom. Let's see her deal with that rather than these spineless rich white people who think smacking their child for inappropriate behavior is child abuse.

Well, why don't you go see how they discipline their children. First, their children have every type of electronic gadget on the market. If the child misbehaves, they threaten about a 1,000 times to take away their IPOD before they do, but the child still has their computer. They don't demand respect and discipline from their children.

When I was younger, my parents didn't give me a warning. They sent me to my room and I had no priveleges at all. Then my dad would come home and whoop my ass.

So to answer your question, I am using the show to support my arguement and also what I have seen firsthand.

No, he's judging it based on how the children's behavior. Its a really good show, and the nannies really know what they're talking about, and it works. They even have a book.

To answer the original question though, I think its because their careers don't give them the neccesary time it takes to be able to get the quality time for nurturing their children.

coz they believe that loving your children is buying them expensive toys and countless gadgets....in actually, they prolly do it so that they will jus play with the toys and leave the parents alone...thats not parenting.
Parenting is being by your children and teaching them to appreciate the finer things in life...

its the stupidest thing when they give an excuse of being so busy or trying to have a life of their own...its like who the fuck told you to have kids? Its not the kids fault they were born, people wanna do shit or have shit and dont want to take the responsibility...it only takes some love and discipline to raise your children right. I wont hit my children or be mean to em for no reason, but they better not have the odasity to hit, yell, throw shit or talk back to me. Kids need to be taught their boundries early off and need to be punished (not neccesarily beaten...I hate when parents beat their kids...your only trying to take the easy way out.)when they fuck up.

Working in a grocery store I watch kids everyday, get away with shit I could never imagine getting away with and the poor discipline these parents give these kids. I wouldn't say the parents are all white either. You would be AMAZED at the manners some non-white kids have as well as white kids.

I don't watch the show to fully make a strong assesment, but I do know that in my opinion bad parenting goes accross ethnic lines. Also over disciplined parenting can lead to bad kids. It amazes me that parents or future parents dont see educational resources on how to raise kids, then get a screaming crying, punching and whinny kids.

just cus they got a nice car and house dont mean they life aint bad. sure they dont got to worry about food and money but think of the woman who hates her husband but loves her kids and sticks with the husband the rest of her life just for the kids. thats a life long burden. and most people dont know how to raise kids becuase they themselves were never raised correctly.

I was just asking a question. I actually agree that rich white parents tend to have very little control over their children, it just seemed odd that you would use a reality show whose sole intent is to make money by showing extremism as your point of reference. I grew up around a lot of rich white kids and most of them had parents who had absolutely no clue how to socialize and discipline their children. For instance, a former friend of mine had parents who would regularly cuss around the house, let him listen to rap (gangsta rap, not will smith), let him watch violent R-rated movies, then when he used bad language, they went off on him. I believe both his parents came from rich families and they were probably given everything they had (physical and mental), so they never had to explore the world for themselves and couldn't think of ample solutions to their kid's problems. So it may be lack of "real world" experience that causes that.

^White people in general are usually shitty parents.... My white daddy split cuz he didnt have enough money to support my mom.

That's why I dont really claim my white side with pride, the only thing I got from my white side was my looks.

@ the thread starter. The supernanny thing will never attempt 2 pull a job off in the hood. The mothafuckaz will be cussing her out, stealing out of her wallet etc. Just like on MSNBC u never see Chris Hansen & Datline do any sting operations on internet preditors in the hood. They alwayz are posted @ locations in upper middle class neighborhoods. That shit would be funny but they covers would get blown everytime. It would be a gun fight over there cuz niggaz will be niggaz
