True story, if people could get over past movies they have seen and sacrifice giving up a series that has turned to shit then there wouldn't be any problems. After all, if a sequel becomes a bust and completely lost money making then we could say RIP to shitty films if consumers didn't pay for more sequels to be made.

You get what you pay for in the end..You don't want shitty movies then give up on them and go out of your way to find new original series.

We control the flow and transport of what is being made by simply showing up and purchasing tickets, and probably on a more subversive level, downloading these films.
Do we have a choice? People will not stop going to the movies. The funny thing is though, that not as many people go anymore and instead of trying to get more people in for some different/new type of movies, they just put out 3D sequels.

I'd want to watch these.
And probably these.

I will eventually watch 3/4 of the entire list whether by downloading or watching on cable television, but only a handful of these actually sound good.

I know I'm probably the exception, but for the most part, I don't go to the movies any more. And this has everything to do with there not being a movie worth paying to see. Whats more, I have free tickets to the movies that have been in my posession since I won them from a football poll at the end of last season. The last movie I paid to see was Inception. With that said, you are both right. Because many casual moviegoers attend movies as an activity as opposed to being drawn in by the substance of the film, ie. dates, hang-outs, boredom, and just seeing whatever is the best available. And in doing this we have proven that we will pay to see these movies.

Bottom line is these sequels and remakes are Hollywoods security blanket. Maybe it's a lack of creativity, or perhaps a lack of investors/producers for original works. The last I heard Charlie Kaufman has 2 scripts (which he wrote, of course) and can not find anyone to fund them. Now, I know he is not the most popular writer, but his movies have been very well received. Meanwhile, people are getting paid bank to write sequel/remake scripts. What's really shitty is that these scripts are essentially getting picked up before they're even written, ie. the last Indiana Jones. They basically said "okay, we're making this movie, now write a script".

It's hard to say who is really to blame, but I think we can agree that we're all getting bamboozled!

you act like hollywood was put here just to make us happy. it's a damn job to them and in a job you need to make money. if you know you can make a shitload of profit on a sure thing rather take a risk then why not do that so you can pay the mortgage and still fuck the pretty girlfriend of yours. and since they're making way more money with shit then they do with good quality movies then whats that say about the general public? there feeding the majority the shit they want and people with taste like most of us just have to sit and pray for a ray of light to come out of all the shit they make nowadays. dont complain about hollywood complain about the country you live in.

Warning: More anger awaits those who continue..

Upcoming remakes: Child's Play, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!, Escape from New York, Footloose, Hellraiser, Howard Stern's Porky's, *IT, Overboard, Poltergeist, RoboCop, Short Circuit, The Blob, The Substitute, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Thing, The Witches, Total Recall, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Pet Sematary, Sunset Boulevard, The Birds, The Orphanage.

* (Highly unlikely they can replicate the mood & feeling of the first 99% of the movie, however, it should be extremely easy to make a better ending.),

More upcoming sequels: Hostel: Part III, Lost Boys: The Thirst, The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence), Police Academy 8, Super Troopers 2, The Blair Witch Project 3, The Strangers 2, Constantine 2, Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2, The Ring 3D, Zoolander 2, Monsters Inc. 2, Madagascar 3.

Upcoming remakes The Orphanage.
this movie was flawless, there's no need to remake it. ugh.

it's ridiculous how many great movies they feel the need to remake just so they're in english... apparently they think people are too stupid to read subtitles?

and wtf @ remaking buffy. the original movie was terrible, but the revamped show was great! the casting was perfect, the storylines were gripping, and the old episodes are still entertaining, watchable, and better than a lot of shit on TV today. and now they want to do a new revamp without any of the people who made the show great!

ugh, just leave the classics alone.

i mean damn, it hasn't even been 10 years since the show ended... it's still relevant.

i can kind of see remaking shit from 50 years ago, but anything within the last 20 years should be left alone.

They need to remake it in English. It is the same reason they remade Let The Right One In/Let Me In

People are very averse to/too stupid for subtitles. Ask Shea. :lick:
