I don't know what your agreement was/is with D-Sane but if you recorded over his music, that's that man. That was work that was put in, regardless if it made the final album cut or not. He should be paid for his time whether it's as an engineer or the one who made the beat or both.
D-Sane, I can't tell you how to conduct your business but... 50% before you turn the power on and the other 50% before ANYTHING leaves. No mix, rough drafts, final mixdown, doesn't matter. Non-negotiable.
