I like Amusment Parks on Fire a lot. Both their Self Titled and Out Of The Angeles are really good albums and worth checking out.

Kaiser Chiefs are alright, I got their first album and their are two really good songs on it but the rest is just meh, not bad but nothing special. They are coming out with a new one pretty soon but I don't care for the lead single at all.

Ride is a pretty good shoegaze band. I like their first album Nowhere a lot. They went kind of downhill from there. Their next album, Going Blank Again, is worth checking out too but I'd stay away from everything after that.

I can't fucking stand The Secret Machines at all. I'd advise you to stay away from them but you might want to check them out anyways because a lot of people do seem to like them.

Failure is alright from what I have heard of them. They were pretty big in the early-mid 1990's, I just could never really get into them.

The rest I never heard of minus Catherine Wheel who I don't care for much either.

If you want some good shoegaze/bands with elements of shoegaze check out these bands and/or albums...

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Bethany Curve (stay away from everything after Gold, everything before is great)
Destroyalldreamers (post-rock band with a shoegaze feel, really really good)
Chapterhouse ( Their two EP's and Whirpool are really good, everything after is meh)
Silversun Pickups (indie rock with shoegaze elements, their full length is really good and has a little Smashing Pumpkins feel to it)
Swervedriver (shogaze/hard rock band, Raise is their best work but I like most of their stuff)
Thousand Yard Stare - Mappamundi

You already said them but Slowdive are by far the best Shoegaze band ever IMO. All of their work is worth checking out and it is really fucking good.

Damn, that was pretty fucking good. Can you up their album when you have the time Smurf (if you have it of course) I looked on SLSK but couldn't find it.

Oh yeah and have you heard Suffokate For Fuck Sake? I downloaded their Self Titled album and it's really fucking good. I guess the band is made up of members of Suis La Lune and some other band named Iisole.

Thanks a lot bro.

I like SFFS quite abit, it's alot different then a lot of the stuff I have heard.

No I never heard of Iisole until someone on a message board said SFFS was made up of them and members of Suis La Lune. I put them in my wish list on SLSK though so I'll let you know how they are if I get a hit.

I didn't care for Mixtapes and Cellmates much either. I mean what I heard wasn't bad but it wasn't anything great either.

^^^ I think you might have been joking but Modest Mouse isn't Shoegaze lol. Most people call them indie rock but I think they are one of those bands that are in their own catagory.

With that being said, the new album kicks total fucking ass. It hasn't left my stereo since you sent it to me. What's your favorite songs RJ? I like, Fly Trapped in a Jar, Spitting Venom, Education, and People as Places as People the most. But I can listen to the whole album all the way through without wanting to skip a song.

lol nah man I was serious. I don't really get what shoegaze is and I always thought Kaiser Chiefs were kinda like Mouse...
Anyways, sorry to derail, but Parting of the Sensory is my favorite. Song is fucking amazing.

You think Kaiser Chiefs are kind of like Modest Mouse? I really don't hear it, I'll have to listen to both again.

Kaiser Chiefs aren't Shoegaze either, they are just British Indie rock.

*edit*

RJ, check out My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" That was the album that more or less shaped the Shoegaze sound.

Hum- you'd prefer an astronaut ... check out that album it is great.

Catherine Wheel - Ferment is probably their best work ...Happy Days, and Chrome are great too. They have more than that but that is all I have. The song Black Metallic on Ferment is a masterpiece IMO.
