the california prison business(cus it is a business y'all) is atrocious

Santa Rita, as in all jails and prisons in California, are under funded and under staffed. They are unable to accomodate the overcrowded population throughout the system, not just Santa Rita. With the recent "court ordered" early releases of non-violent inmates, a class action lawsuit regarding conditions, in this case medical, is inevitable. Any inmate who was denied medical attention for a prolonged period of time would be a plaintiff. Food for thought. I feel your struggle 100%!
Sounds a lot like SAC county jail...
Last time I was there they had me in a cell with a clogged and leaking shit filled toilet for almost three days. I couldnt take a shit or even piss unless I wanted to smell up my 5 by 8 with a gaging stench.
When they finally did unplug it they didnt allow me or my celly to leave and we had to sit in the cell and smell that week old shit well the trusty unplugged it...shit was fucked up.

nobody get's rehabilitated in any correctional system, it's all business.
For each inmate the correctional system makes what? 35-50k a year?...
It's all money ...that's it....
I feel dudes post, but some of us that been to jail and been treated wrong can't change the way they run they're business.
We can't expect to be given the best health care plan or best meal everyday while being incarcerated....
If you don't like living like that, stop getting in trouble. Find away to better yourself out here ...

you have the right idea folks. There is no doubt about that. We are arresting and enslaving more people than can be accomodated and the courts are just starting to see the light. The releasing of the inmates early due to overcrowding is just the begining. This ruling alone is going to spark many lawsuits and either two things will happen. More prisons and hospitals to accomodate the inmate population or more people on the street fighting cases and or being released early regularily. The system is affected by the struggling economy also, imagine that(sarcastic)?

not everybody on here lives in Alameda county..
Some of us from Contra Costa, Solano, San Joaquin, Santa Clara and so on..
not everybody goes to Santa Rita...

I have seen a breach of security in the hole while in prison. A skinhead got put in a cell with an "other". They would talk shit back and forth all the time and somehow, in the most secure unit in the prison, got put in the cell together accidently. Actually this event led to the pictures of inmates being put on theircell doors in the hole across California. No doubt some foul shit happens. They are human like me and you. The way to make change is to educate yourself and rationally make your argument. It will not happen overnight or in our lifetime but progress is slowly being made. Am I bitter towards the system, I guess in a way. Not because of what I did because I did it, but because of the lack of rehabilitation. There are ways to help communities see the light. But until I have the same education background as the people we are up against, our arguments are mute. I am not anti-anything because the system would work if the people in charge did what it was intended to do.
