I think the Bay Needs To Diverse it's styles..to get back on top...Not Just RAP...Just look back at the Early 90s when the Bay was on top..There was Digital Underground, Too $hort, En Vogue, Hammer, Oaktown 357, Toni Tony Tone...There was something that all regons were able to absorb and feel...If the bay just on some go dumb get hyphy shit all the time you can't get too far with that....

y do people go on and on saying bay area rap is not diverse and is only shitty hyphy music? just off the top of my head i can listen hella artists who make alot more then watever u think "hyphy" music is and their music is quality hyphy or not

Bailey
Dem Hoodstarz
Ya Boy
San Quinn
Andre Nickatina
PSD
Messy Marv
Cellski
Kila Keise
The Federation
Zion-I
Turf Talk
Jacka
Rydah J. Clyde
baby bash

i could go on and on listing the talented artists in the bay but besides being incredibly diverse my point is that sum of these artists dont even touch the hyphy movement and even ones like the federation who make alot of that fun type music still release very diverse shit, and when they drop "hyphy" music its usually pretty quality music. The only people giving hyphy a bad name is all those no names who r tryna to use the swag of the hyphy movement to get recognized, just using all the new words and shit to make it appeal to people.

Bay area rap fans have changed.
I agree...They changed their MINDS. I don't think people with any since could go dumb forever. What will be interesting is what the "Hyphy" artist will be doing to continue to get fans. They did so much goin dumb and tellin when to go that the people made the choice to go spend their time and money else where. The Bay is to big and diverse to be one thing. The problem is that RAPPERS and BEATMAKERS dominated the Hyphy shit. What we needed was a movement of ARTIST, MC'S and PRODUCERS...then we wouldn't be having this problem right now. The Bay sold its soul to get some Nation Wide love and now look at us...we REALLY look dumb. All the hype went to the dumb ass's of the Bay while the real artist had to either take a backseat to the hyphy shit or kinda join in with and look like damn dummy to their fans. It's sad that there is so much talent out here not getting a chance to be heard outside of this reigion. The hyphy heads made thier nasty little beds...now they have to lay in them. I just hope the real artist can come and bring good music and real thinking and writting back to the forefront of the music again.

Theres plenty of good music out in the bay, hyphy and not hyphy, the thing is that all the older cats r so stuck in the past and obssesed wit wat they created, they just sit around and talk down on what the new generations have to offer. Each generation and each type of music has something good to offer. Theres crappy mob music and crappy hyphy music. Dont dissmiss an artist or song immediatly cuz they say they ghostride their whip and ur too old to do that

don't put words in ya boy's mouth.. i know the bay is diverse.. we have r&b, mobb shit, hyphy, and hip-hop cats too..

all i'm sayin' is too much quantity over quality in 2007 isn't a good thing.. when everyone and their mom tries to flow and puts music out strictly for money purposes.. that's when you see MEDIOCRITY.. it's not just in 2007.. and it's not just the bay

i wanna hear some different sh*t.. somethin' that i can feel.. somethin' that will teach me somethin'.. knowledge

all these rappers talkin' about it's a MOVEMENT etc.. but how does their music help me? besides putting money in their pocket?

Let's no forget that Hyphy opened the door to allow Clyde, Fab and others to sign to majors. I believe the reason it's so quiet is that when you're independent you can drop an album whenever you want you control your own destiny. When you're on a major label they are investing a lot of money into the artist so there going to market an artist with the right tools. Hyphy isn't dead it's a way of life, it's just expanding to other branches so everyone can shine.
