all the movies i play are dvdRip and lose a bunch of quality using my ps3 on a 46" screen though not sure how big exactly but it looks kinda crappy but im using an HDMI cable does that have anything to do with it? or are the actual video files not capable of stretching so much?

i use a HDMI and its comes out good its just they way they rip it and how its compressed cuz sometimes it come out shitty for my on my 40 inch

yeah if you really want to enjoy a movie and really care about the quality and want to watch it on your big screen then it might be better to buy the blu-ray and if not then what i do is just simply watch it on my computer where the quality is really good as it was intended to be played on computer..

also they will usually have a sample of how it look like a little clip or some pics... check those out. theyll give you an idea of how it will look

i got a 50" LG plasma a couple months ago....

if you wanna fuck with the picture, on mine there's about 8 options...you can preview each of them as you highlight them....i dunno if that's exactly what you meant cause the first part confused me about the DVDRIP and all that.......i haven't seen that on mine...

but i will say, some of my regular DVD's look like crap. and i got the HDMI cord for my ps3....the games look dope tho....i haven't gone out and bought a bluray yet tho so i'll have to do that and see what it looks like.....i heard the animated shit like toy story and shrek look the best in bluray....

In order for DVD's to look good, you have to turn off all your "noise filters". Otherwise, itll make them look grainy. I had the same issue with my PS3 and LCD TV. Once i turned off the DNI and such, it looked fine.

You can also DL the 720 and 1080 HDrips. They'll look great on the PS3. That's what I mostly DL for action movies. I do the DVD rips only on comdeys since the quality isn't that big of an issue on comedy or drama flicks.
