you keep talkin about how nobody could be reached by doing an event like this in an area like concord, and you say that the events should be held in the heart of the hoods, but the truth is, you CANT hold events like this in the hoods, it would get shut down, or wouldn't happen at all period. you wanna do a show on E. 14th or in the Rich or EPA? you can't do that shit, that shit would either get shut down before it started, or somethin would happen and some violence would take place and make the area worse than it was before. and the truth is most of the clubs and night spots in the hood areas are being shut down because of this, because people don't know how to act, people are being killed at these spots. so what you say is a nice thought, but it's a fairy tale, it can't happen. and another fact is, there are a lot of artists within the Bay and outside of it that will not even set foot in Oakland or San Francisco to do a show
you say we only do things in the suburbs and we're not reaching anyone, first of all, our shows bring people out from EVERY city in the Bay and EVERY hood in the Bay, and we bring people together, and they coexist at our events, second, with shows like this, we know we're not in the middle of the hood, but the event and the venue can be used to raise money and awareness to be given and put directly into ways to help the hoods and the youth in the communities.
you say we do the same "Weak ass" shows all the time, man in the last year alone we have done over 50 shows. this is our first one with Mr. Sandman and his Guns Down Mics Up organization, but myself and Daddy Rich have done over 50 shows, and in those shows along with regular performances and parties, we have done charity benefits for Stay In School, Food Drives on Thanksgiving, Toy and Clothing Drives at Christmas, Music Industry Panel Discussions and a lot more.
Sandman is doing something positive with this, he already has a lot of other events on the horizon but he brought this one to us and we were proud to be a part of it, why not show a positive side to hip-hop. Like he said before, us in the rap industry don't have to be role models, but we can know that we can help to guide the youth that looks up to us.
you're another one of the people who are sitting here complaining about us trying to do something positive, why do that, stop pointing the finger and asking why this and why that, look at yourself, what are you doing?
