Black market and highside were sac record lables not no bay area....I would even consider AWOL a sacramento lable too based on thats were it got started and bcuz most of the artist on the lable were from sac...

Now if were talkin bout bay area I would say thizz or sick wit it...now I know sic wit it and thizz still be droppin shit but its nothin like they were years back when they were droppin consistant good albums.

its crazy how labels like awol highside black market and the rest had a good thing goin. why would someone blow a good thing? i'm sure if none of the labels didn't fall off, they would of been better off cuz most of these artists had to label hop. i would also put get low records (before jt changed the logo) on that list too. you can't go wrong wit d-moe, seff, and quinn on your team like that. and then gamblaz came along. he probably coulda had mess too i'm sure and others like playa p that he kept sayin was comin soon. didn't the priority deal for get low get fucked up over some albums put out behind priority's backs?

i think that one of the main reasonz why AWOL fell off was because freddie smith was alwayz gettin locked up and on the run,,,,, and black market fell off because cedric singelton was greedy.
It's hard to run a label and make moves when the CEO is locked up but AWOL was able to do so. There's a lot of things that that Freddie was able to make happen being behind bars. I thought we were on our way to being the next No Limit. I can't really say why the label crumbled but everything happens for a reason.

ok ok lets get to it bay fans

1]awol...i guess there was no way they could handle there amount of artists at a time...here are 2 personal awol stories...i was in a seattle studio and 151 had written his hated on sight motto on the wall..haha

funk daddy was steady tellin me that c-bo was never gonna get his proper amount of paper ...so...he took that 500 sl benz that he always rapped about...

the point is during late 90's awol just kept dropping mobb beat cds...but if you go back and listen it sounds wayyyyy dated[fo' real big time, there whole killa-killa vibe iz pulch

2]highside...

i will never forget young ridah dropped a cd then he was in turf hoggs...you tell me anotha bay rapper that dropped a solo then a group cd in like a few months period...

b.dame had a real impressive mini empire going...

i remeber b-12 saying yes, he is doing ok but no big sales..

but still mic-c,hollow,plus streets of sac...dont undermind there pull around 98

3]cali ent...my pick awol was bound to crumble cause c-bo was to expensive,b.dame was a crook

but when cali ent dropped fast dreams, greedy, and my fav mak all in like a 1 year time frame one of the most impressive bay labels ever...

so what label do u miss the most?....

i miss cali ent,,,cause that shit should still be up and running...where awol and highside where bound to end

speak on it...............
None of these labels were "from the Bay", they were from Sacramento. So why is this being asked in here?

Its a sad shame that alotta of the best rap labels in history never lasted from Death Row to No Limit to Black Market to AWOL to Killa Valley & Im sure Im foreseeing more good rap labels on the verge of gettin crumbled & folded all cuz the ceos who manage the labels always take them for granted...... They cant invest & endorse their artists & their records they rather waste their fundings on materialass bullshit thats on the reel......
