WASHINGTON - A video showing a fight at a Dumfries, Va. karate dojo has caused controversy after being posted online.
As the Washington Post reports , the video shot in December of 1984 shows a karate leader introducing a local man who says he wants to teach the group. The man, who claims to have learned his technique from Jesus Christ, begins to fight with a black belt. After trading blows, the black belt quickly overwhelms the man and beats him to the ground.
The video ends as the man is dragged by his feet from the dojo.
Since its online posting, calls for an investigation have been made after it was thought the man was killed. Local police departments have been contacted be concerned viewers demanding an investigation into the cold case.
However, as reported by the Post, the case is not cold and the man was not killed. As with many viral videos posted online, all of the facts were not known leading to speculation about the incident.
While the video appears to be real, the Dumfries Police Dept. confirms that the victim was interviewed after the incident. The man was a vagrant who lived in the area, authorities say, and declined to pursue charges.
If the video had surfaced in 1984, cops say, that they would have pursued an investigation
