why don't they put up suicide barriers(walls).. it's like someone jumps every 2 weeks... and no one gives a fuck.. does san fran want people to jump off the bridge 'cause it's easier clean up then some random skyscraper.
This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness.

The clearance below the bridge is 220 feet or 67 metres, add several more feet obviously for the structure itself, and the rail, depending on where somebody jumps from.

Thats where the larger view is (the rest of the bay, west is just water and a couple hills) and thats where the larger walkway is (Im pretty sure, haven't been on either pedestrian walkway for years).
The westbound side of the bridge - the walkway is thin (once again Im pretty sure its smaller, could be wrong), there are no plaques...no one really walks it. The eastbound side feels more like "it".
I know anyone/everyone from the bay who has been to the bridge has looked down. I hate heights and that shit even creeps me out a lil bit.
