Lyricism is what seperates good rappers from those who are in it for the money and fame. An example of a real lyricist? Chamillionaire. Big Pun. Cuban Link. Crooked I. Eminem. Old school Twista. There's so many more..

It does have energy, but every song is about the same shit. How long can this shit last? How long before people get sick of hearing about popping thizz and ghost riding their whip? How long before people get sick of being told to go dumb or get stupid or ride the yellow bus? This music is appealing to the youth who are easily influenced by anything that will allow them to let loose, which would be koo if everyone wasn't saying the same exact shit in their songs and if they found a more creative way of appealing to these kids. Most of it encourages them to pop ecstacy pills, and I've seen first-hand what the influence can do to these kids. I see kids who used to be good 3 years ago starting to pop E.. Of all drugs.. E!! The shit fries your fuckin brain. Glorifying it is as ignorant as it gets.

I have legitimate reasons for disliking this whack ass 'movement,' and unlike the creator of this thread suggests, I am not hating on the Bay and I would not rather see the Bay fail. I'd just like to see it succeed in a more respectable way.

I can't say I've heard them all, but the ones I have heard wouldn't be concidered real lyricists. Awax, The Coup, Mr. Kee.. None would be concidered real lyricists.

I would like to know what/whom you consider a real lyricist, and you need to do some more research on Bay Area Hip Hop.

40 was ahead of his time, and people are just now catching up. I dont like the way he dummed his style down, but I feel him wanting to connect with the youth. (which was my reasoning behind making "Scraper Swangin') Dre too was ahead of his time, and his impact on the game was such that people have created a "movement" based on him & his persona. he was loved so much that people have tried to emulate him like people did when Pac passed. I dont agree with some of the things like the illicit drug use and destruction of property, but I do love the energy. ALOT of the stuff is annoying, but some of it I enjoy. To me it's no different then what ICP has done in creating the Juggalos....they are regional sub-cultures that have grown in other areas due to some mainstream exposure. taj-he-spits is indeed a VERY talented lyricist, and has some of the Bay's OGs like 40 & the FEDS behind him all the way. He's got the energy of the hyphy movement, with the lyrical prowess of your favorite rappers....if he gets some good direction, and improves his songwriting, he can make more then a regional impact.

Not too many people, unfortunately. But I do like Crooked I, The Game (people hate him cuz he has commercial appeal, but dude can rap), The Team is nice, Malice, Woodie and most of the East Co Co camp.. There's plenty more but for a state as populated as California and with a hip hop culture as live as ours you'd think the list would be tremendous.

I'm feeling A LOT of underground artists out here though, too many to even begin listing.

Listen to your song and tell me what makes it different from any other hyphy song. Nothing. It's the same shit, over and over. It's all unoriginal and very annoying, not to mention whack as fuck.

Third, if you want true feedback, here's the best I can give you: up your rap skills. You're simplistic and nothing makes you stand out from anybody else. Make your rhymes more interesting. Try coming up with a song that's in some way original. I can go on and on but you'll probably just take it as hate so I'll stop there.
