It's hard to imagine anyone giving ggg a real brawl, but I was definitely impressed by lemiuex in the n'dam fight. If he can hurt ggg early he might get enough respect to actually use his offense, but ggg is a deadly aggressor.

I read somewhere ( maybe here) that kovalev doesn't like to spar ggg cuz Abel Sanchez has ggg going too hard in sparring and kovalev doesn't want to hurt ggg trying to keep him off of him.

I got GGG by ko, the way he cuts off the ring is insane. David will not able to keep him off of him when he shortens the distance, he wont be able to handle the pressure from Golovkin. I see GGG catching him with a counter and putting him away. Man this is a dope ass card! gonna have to buy this.

Yeah basically a difference in philosophies. Abel likes his guys to go hard in sparring, Kovalev does not. Before Kovalev got with John David Jackson, he did some work with Abel and Golovkin. Abel would have them spar against each other a couple times, Golovkin goes fairly hard during sparring and he was roughing Kovalev up and knocked him down with a body shot. Kovalev didn't like that and in his words "why should we beat each other up for free?" and also said the way that Gennady fights, the only way to really fight him is to get into a war, and he wasn't down for getting into a war with Golovkin for free. So Abel and him haven't been on friendly terms since, whether it was Abel who kicked him out or Kovalev who chose to leave who knows, they both have their own side of the story on that, but Kovalev and Golovkin are friends.

So basically difference in philosophies. It seems Golovkin was just doing what he always does in the gym which is a few notches higher than what Kovalev is used to and willing to do. Kovalev saves that stuff for the actual fight.

I agree. I think Golovkin will box and play it safe for the first rounds, similar to the first half of the Stevens fight, and first couple rounds of the Monroe fight, then he'll start to turn it up round 5 and on.

Lemieux is not as good as a fighter as Golovkin, but his power is legit so his best chance is to land something big in those first four rounds when GGG is taking it slow, it's crucial for him to try and set his own pace and impose his will on Golovkin, otherwise he's going to start slowing down by the time GGG begins to pick up the pace.

14-1 favorite is probably too high, I think that just reflects the perspective people have right now of Golovkin. I think Lemieux does pose a bit of a threat mainly because it's been so long since Golovkin has had any real resistance in the ring.

I see Golovkin as high as 19-1 on some books.
People often ignore how fast Lemieux is. The guy has much quicker hands than Golovkin and his defensive skills have improved since his losses.

I'm not putting too much on the N'Dam fight. The way the guy fights he gets caught off balance all the time. He's always on the move.

It's a gamble that I'm willing to take.

GBP isn't going to send their man into a slaughter house. They believe he will win as well or at the very least look damn good losing. Not a sacrificial lamb by any means.

To be fair Golden Boy didn't want this fight at all, both Oscar and Gomez were talking about two more fights and then Golovkin. K2 put a deal in place for Lemieux that was too good to refuse. That's why this fight is on PPV - HBO couldn't afford the purse in order to get Lemieux in the ring so the made a PPV where Lemieux will get a very nice guarantee and split of PPV revenue.

Does anyone think this may be a letdown as far as PPV sales? Love GGG and all and wish him the best. I know his popularity has skyrocketed like a wildfire, I just think he's not quite there yet. Unless they heavily promote the shit out of the event, I have my doubts about the numbers.

Depends on what the expectations are. This isn't Mayweather and Pacquiao so I'm sure their expecting around 300k and probably need to do about 100k to break even.

I don't know why I voted GGG by decision, but I keep hearing his team talking about how Curtis Stevens has more power than this guy or that guy which makes me think Stevens hurt GGG while he was fighting inside. I see Lemieux fighting in then out and really clocking GGG to make GGG think a lil more than what he's used to. This fight is a lot closer than what people think. I hope I'm wrong though because I want to see GGG destroy him.

Anything over 500k is a huge success. The only names in boxing who have sold over 500k in recent years have involved Mayweather and Pacquiao. No one else has (although Canelo vs Cotto most certainly will but that's it).

PPV sales will all depend on how HBO wants to promote this fight. If there's any Face Off, 24/7's, or 2 Days with Lemieux. Lemieux has to be portrayed as a legit threat to GGG if they want good ppv numbers.
